RB Maurice Clarett (B1G Freshman of the Year, National Champion)

The story about the mob in SoCal (not necessarily Israeli; maybe more like Russian) is consistent with some things I heard from people involved with Ohio State athletics. Mo C may have gotten bankrolled by some people whose concept of "collections" is a little different from Macy's. The people he was going to see might not be entirely innocent.

This isn't in any way exculpatory of this stupid young man. Next time he makes a good choice, somebody please wake me.

What makes me pleased is that it seems so very obvious that, had this all worked out, Clarett would have been able to pay off his new friends and get on with an honorable career in the NFL.

If these stories are true and aren't just out there to detract from his being in the same neighborhood as a prosecution witness, it's not like he might have come under pressure to throw a game or anything afte borrowing money from mobsters, is it? I mean this is your new age kinda mob today, public image mangagement and all that. Do Russians even do that "he sleeps with fishes" thing? :tongue2:
