Congrats to Zeke on making the game winning play in the all star dodgeball game tonight. As one of the true all time greats in the game of dodgeball myself, someone who won many dodgeball championships on the hard concrete of St. Isidore elementary school, I know a great player when I see one and I'm honored to welcome Zeke to the club.

WATCH: Ezekiel Elliott tries to play DB, guard Dez Bryant and it doesn't go well

Such as Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott trying to lineup in practice at cornerback and play man-to-man coverage on Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.

The moment was captured by Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning-News and it's a stark reminder why Zeke doesn't play cornerback.



Elliott, who was wearing Vikings cornerback's Xavier Rhodes' shirt while defending Dez, would give it another run, this time with Saints quarterback Drew Brees throwing the ball.



Asked about the moment, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett described Zeke as very "active."

"Zeke's been very active," Garrett said. "He's been playing a lot of different spots."

Elliott also lined up at wideout, this time with Dez matching up on him. Playing cornerback went much better for Dez than it did for Elliott.

Funny thing is that my civilian boss at work and I argued about this last month, but I was the one saying that Dak deserved it and he was vehement that Zeke deserved it. That Dak wasn't "within miles of the top players at his position" (which he indeed was, by the way) is totally irrelevant...this wasn't about who was the best QB in the league, it was about who was the best at his offensive position. Dak had the best rookie season ever for a QB. And everything else being equal or close, the QB will always get the nod because of the overall importance of the position. This SI article earlier in the season ranked their ten best rookie QB seasons. Now compare them with Dak's:

3rd most yards: 3,667
Best comp %: 67.8
Highest rtg: 104.9
Best TD/INT: 23/4

Not to mention to mention the pressure of playing for "America's Team" and the weekly drama of whether or not he'd be replaced by Tony Romo, and not only did he perform brilliantly he handled it all with class. Did Zeke have a valid claim also? Damn right. But I think Dak deserved it a bit more.

Dak was great for a rookie QB. As a regular QB he was 19th in yards, 15th in TDs. His rating was pretty high (3rd I believe), and he was really impressive for a brand new QB. He did not stack up with the top QBs of today though.

Prescott: 67.8% 3667 yds 23 td 04 int

Ryan: 69.9% 4944 yds 38 td 07 int
Brees: 70.0% 5208 yds 37 td 15 int
Cousn: 67.0% 4917 yds 25 td 12 int
Brady: 67.4% 3554 yds 28 td 02 int (which was 4738 yd 37 td 2.6 int over a 16 game season)

Dak had Sam Bradford or Marcus Mariota like numbers (which again, are 15-20ish statistically)

Zeke led the league in rushing this year. He was at worst, a top-3 back.

Now if you want to focus on the difficulty of playing QB vs RB, that's a more compelling argument.
