George not over last game with Michigan

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Twelve years, a Heisman Trophy and a glittering professional career later, Eddie George still carries the hurt of a loss to Michigan.

With No. 7 Ohio State set to renew acquaintances with its old rival to the North on Saturday, the subject of past, painful games always seems to arise for the former Ohio State tailback.


"Every year around this time, I'm reminded of that," he said this week while visiting Ohio State's practice facility. "I don't get it the other 364 days a year. But, of course, you always think about it."

EDDIE: ?No, it?s not. Actually, it?s overrated. It?s not as loud. It?s not as intense as people make it out to be, at least I don?t think so. That?s just me. I don?t like Michigan.

Chris Perry is a douche so it wouldn't surprise me nor would I care. Did you forget it's a rivalry? Of course Eddie isn't going to be singing their praises. Plus, it's commonly accepted that the Out House is really quiet for its size.

It's not sour grapes, I've been there. It's just not that loud compared to OSU or Penn St. Schembechler and Moeller used to complain about their QB's not being able to call their signals back when they brought their teams to play in the 'Shoe. But OSU QB's never had that problem at scUM.

You should use someone other than Perry as the example :wink2:.. but, going off of what I've heard from others.. in the Pig House you're not even allowed to stand up. It's a huge bowl that spreads out the noise as opposed to Ohio Stadium post-renovation where the bleachers are ontop of the field. Have you been down on the grass since they re-did it? Incredibly intimidating.

Sour grapes? Of course, he never won there.. but based off of everything I've heard about scUM stadium, it doesn't seem far-fetched.

Ranking the few Big Ten stadiums I've been to for games in terms of hostile environments for visiting teams(mind you this has just as much to do with acoustics and structure of the stadium as it does fan base):

1. Beaver Stadium
1A. Camp Randall
3. The Shoe (although I don't know how I would feel if I was a fan of a visiting team)
4. Memorial Stadium - Illinois
5. The Big House
6. Memorial Stadium - Indiana (Although when I was there it was 75% OSU fans. Now that they are slightly better the atmosphere might be better as well.)

The bottom line is the Big House is very, very quiet and unimposing.

George hosts a weekly one-hour talk program on an Internet-only radio network called Voice America. Since it?s a pretty safe bet that you?ve never heard of Voice America and thus never heard George?s show, you?ll want to know that Radio by George deliberately ventures away from sports topics. On Jan. 28, for instance, the Buckeye icon?s topic of conversation was the national touring production of The Vagina Monologues.

George has continued the success of his storied playing career in his post-NFL endeavors. His contributions can be felt beyond the world of sports and into areas such as music, film and television, education, health and fitness and social awareness. While his venture with the Pelicans will mark his first foray into professional sports ownership, he is the founder and part owner of the The EDGE Group and "Eddie's Sports Grill" in Columbus, OH.


"When my NFL fraternity brother and good friend Jerome Bettis asked me to invest in a Minor League Baseball franchise I jumped at the opportunity because of the great things I've heard about the Altoona Curve and State College Spikes franchises, which Jerome has been involved with for several years," said Eddie George. After setting a school record by rushing for 1,927 yards as a senior at the Ohio State University in 1995, George was awarded the Heisman Trophy. The Houston Oilers made George their first-round draft choice in 1996, and the decision paid immediate dividends as he won the league's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. George remained the starting running back for the Oilers/Titans through the 2003 season and never missed a start. He and Hall of Famer Jim Brown are the only two running backs to rush for over 10,000 yards while never missing a start. A four-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro, he helped the Titans to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIV against the St. Louis Rams. He spent his final season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2004, and retired from football following the season. His career totals include 10,441 rushing yards, 268 receptions, 2,227 receiving yards, and 78 touchdowns (68 rushing and 10 receiving).


He has gone on to many television roles, including NFL broadcasts as well as Fox's coverage of the Bowl Championship Series. On October 1, 2006, George was appointed spokesperson for Tennessee's GetFitTN program by Governor Phil Bredesen. The initiative is aimed at the prevention of Type 2 diabetes and the promotion of healthier, more active lifestyles.
