RB DeaMonte “Chip” Trayanum (transfer to Kentucky)

RYAN DAY’S THURSDAY PRESS CONFERENCE

ON THE RUNNING BACK ROOM
  • "It's time to get those guys some reps and get them going."
  • Day said Ohio State will "rely on depth" against Indiana and try to use TreVeyon Henderson, Miyan Williams, Dallan Hayden and Chip Trayanum on Saturday to make sure each ball carrier is fresh and can get their feet underneath them. He added that Williams' hand is "a lot better this week" but said he struggled with it last weekend against Northwestern.
  • On Dallan Hayden and Chip Traynaum: “We’re gonna try to play some depth this week at running back.”

Keep an eye on Chip this weekend…..early word from WHAC is he’s getting full playbook thrown at him.

I certainly don’t expect him to be Miyan….that’d be ridiculous. But they’re hoping he can add a power element we’ll be missing without Miyan.

Sounds like they expect 10-15 carries against Maryland and will prep him for some work against Michigan. All hands on deck at this point…….

Would be great but I’ll believe it when it happens.
He missed a great opportunity last week alas he was one of the dozens of players we’ve had that get hurt in practice and/or warmups.

Thought Chip played really well. Special Ohio powers.

14 carries for 83 yards, 5.9 ypc and he caught 1 pass for 14 yards. He's got (at least) 2 more years of eligibility. At 230 lbs he's a "load" to tackle.

He should be a major contributor next year too. If everyone comes back you have to wonder where he will land on the depth chart. Regardless, the way injuries plagued the RBs this year, it just shows "you can never have too many RBs".
