Re: Hyde, who played for the Buckeyes from 2010-13, rushed for 1,070 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and six touchdowns for the Houston Texans in 2019. The Texans offered Hyde a contract to remain with the team in 2020, but he turned the deal down. In 2019 with the Texans, Hyde made $2.8 million.

Either he just doesn't want to play in Houston or (more likely) they just "low balled" him with their offer.

Carlos Hyde Would Be a Very Nice Addition to the Eagles

He’s a solid player and would be a very nice fit here. A couple of notes:
  • He turns 30 in September but only has 1,072 career carries. Last year he actually had his career high in rushing attempts, with 245 for 1,070 yards for the Texans. There’s definitely something left in the tank.
  • Obviously he won’t carry the ball that many times if he comes to Philly, but working via committee could extend his career further. For what it’s worth, the Birds had just started giving Jordan Howard more carries right before he got injured.
  • Pretty angry runner. He’s plays around 225-235 pounds and continues through contact for extra yards. That’s something the Birds could really use.
  • He’s a good pass catcher. Didn’t do much in this area last year, but from 2016 to 2017 in San Francisco he caught 86 of 121 targets for 513 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Above-average in pass protection.
Hyde has bounced around a lot in recent years, playing for five teams dating back to 2017. He reportedly had an offer to stay with the Texans but decided to hit free agency instead. As such, perhaps the Eagles could lure him to town by talking up their culture and convincing him that he could win games here. The only question is how much money he’s looking for, since he’s made relatively little over the course of his career, compared to other starting-caliber running backs.

Seahawks sign veteran running back Carlos Hyde to one-year deal

Carlos Hyde is heading back to the NFC West.

After spending 2019 with the Houston Texans, the former Ohio State star running back has agreed to a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Ian Rapoport says that Hyde could earn up to $4 million.



Seattle was also looking at former Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman, but he reportedly turned down a similar offer.

The 29-year-old Hyde is an experienced back who’s coming off one of the best seasons of his career. He rushed for over 1,000 yards on 245 carries with the Houston Texans, a much-needed year after he was anything but productive in 2018 with the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars. Hyde ranked right behind Todd Gurley in DYAR and DVOA. Hyde was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2014 and played with the team until 2017, and since then he’s bounced around from team to team.

1,000 YARDS AND A TORN LABRUM. Carlos Hyde just had the best season of his NFL career, and he did it in typical Guapo fashion – with no regard for his body.



Let me be clear that I would not be doing a damn thing besides clutching my shoulder in pain if I tore my labrum, and Guapo's out here crossing the 1,000-yard mark. We may as well not even be the same species.
