RB Antonio Pittman (Official Thread)

Ok, I've had a night to sober up, and I'm still pretty worked up about the whole argument. I don't think Tony Hunt is even close to Pittman, but like I said, I was being generous and letting him just try to think of 9 backs that are at least arguable. Even with me GIVING him those he still couldn't think of any. His only basis for not thinking that Pittman was a good back was the fact that none of the magazines had him high, and that he doesn't get 20-25 carries a game like a great back would. Can't wait for the rest of the season to play out so I can rub this in his face...

With a full year under C Wells belt the coaching staff will need to get him the ball more. with less exposure already in our offense i think he is gone after this year... that is if he keeps up they way he started. I hope i am wrong...

Less exposure already? Then when? MoWells is still rarely used, and Chris is not stealing many carries either. Teddy and Troy will be gone, the running game will be the bread and butter next year. I'm pretty sure scouts would tell Pittman that he'd be better served to stay in school an extra year.

Tressel's style of coaching. I bet he follows some other great programs that had 2 great RB's. USC & AUBURN

More OPTIONS makes the team better. Those 2 with more experienced lines, great wr's and an older defense. The only ? is which, QB will get the call.

Sounds like another team with chances for a Title to me

I guess I don't understand the "need" (in your eyes) to get Beannie the ball if Pittman is still the main back. Sure, Chris is a playmaker and will get carries next year (just like he will this year) but if/when Pittman is back next year Tressel will have a player with 3 solid years experience. History tells us Tressel likes to play his experienced players, especially when they are good.

BTW, if Pittman keeps going at his current clip he'll be around 1,450 yards for the year and 13 TD's... a solid year, no doubt, but 1st round NFL draft... he'd probably be right on the edge. He'd definitely benefit from another year at Ohio State.

Does Pit turn Pro after this year? Having a big already and the fact that C Well will be taking some carries away next year?

If you haven't noticed, Beanie hasn't really taken away carries from Pitt but rather from his namesake Maurice...

I dont have a "need" to get Wells the ball. Just an observation that Wells will take carries away from Pit. If that is the case, and only he will know by the end of the season, he may opt to leave. Keep in mind only three games have gone bye, lets see when we are in the middle of the big ten season..

first, which "he" are you talking about? second, it doesn't matter which "he" you're talking about. neither would leave. beanie has alread talked about how much there is to learn, which leads me to believe that he understands why he's not getting more touches. he's young, and he's learning from pittman. also, if beanie is at all wise, he knows that next year there will be a new quarterback. with a new quarterback, there will likely be a greater reliance on running. i'm sure beanie knows that he'll have plenty of opportunities to show his stuff while he's suited up for the scarlet and grey.

i'm fully confident that beanie will have a breakout game this year.

I believe he's saying pittman will know by the years end if beanie will be getting a larger share of the carries in 07.

JT wont give wells carries just based on wells' rep He will make him earn whatever he gets. Right now his average isnt anything special. You people that think wells is just going to "take" carries away from a talent like Pittman must be smokin loco weed. Tressel is too smart for that.

:oh:
