Late to the party, but I love my Pi. I use mine pretty much exclusively for media streaming - I installed OpenELEC as the OS, which boots right into XBMC. Set up the windows tower in the basement to share via smb and wa-lah, all my movies/TV shows streamed to the living room.

One of the add-on's is ESPN3 that taps you into WatchESPN without a cable subscription.

How reliable is the WatchESPN feed? Does it freeze up or lag at any point? I get decent speeds at home, but for the NC game I synced up the Paul Keels radio call with the TV so I didn't have to listen to Herbie. The first half worked great, but in the second half it would stall on me for a second or two every few minutes. That would kill me if I were using the WatchESPN feed for both audio and video.

The only time I've run into issues is with the Rose/Sugar and NC game - I think their servers were crushed. It's a little different than the WatchESPN app as sometimes it seems to be missing events/you can't watch shows like SportsCenter, seems to feed only events.

I literally bought cable JUST for the NC game. Luckily, a friend of mine was able to AirPlay their iPad to my TV for the Sugar Bowl - through her UVerse app we had no problems but the WatchESPN feed was spotty at best that night. Thank god she was here with her iPad!

Could I use a android device to control a raspberry pi that primarily is used for netflix, vudu, and other streaming services? This will be operated by my dad, so it'd have to be something he doesn't have to call me every time he wants to use it and ask how it works.

I'll have to get one of these if I can get my hands on one for the $35. I have a model B running as a XBMC media center in my living room and works great. If this thing will run full blown Windows 10 it could be big keeping Windows in school's.
