Are people heavier before they let out a fart or after?

You're citing yahoo answers? Can you do that? Besides, I'm not convinced that the "best" answer is right.

Take 2 identical balloons. Weigh each for accuracy. Blow one of them up. Now weigh them. That would be your answer. one blown up is heavier.

First, what type of explosive are we using? Maybe we ought to clean any residue from the balloon pieces we find. I doubt that we find them all, anyway. I say that the one we blew up is lighter for that reason.

Second, maybe we used helium? A helium-filled balloon will weight negative on a scale. Unless we're standing in a vaccuum. I'd imagine that we'd freeze to death in that case, though. Or we'd become dehydrated. But I guess in that case the helium-filled balloon would weight more than the empty balloon. I know farts aren't made out of helium. Maybe there's some methane in there or something. I think mythbusters talked about this.

According to wikipedia (which is just as bad to cite as yahoo answers, but you can poop on an orange if you don't like it) Flatulence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia there's all kinds of stuff in farts. There's much more hydrogen and methane in farts than there is in air Earth's atmosphere - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. That methane and hydrogen is lighter than air, if they're at the same temperature and pressure, making the fart lighter than the air. So if everything is the same temperature and pressure, you ought to be heavier after the fart.

But the whole reason that the fart farts out is because there's more pressure inside. So... hm.. I don't like the look of that Argon in the air. Stupid Argon - thinks he's so tough.....

Let's go kick Arongs ass. And yes I agree Yahoo! is the WORST place to get answers. Especially this Gem, where everybody answers the question wrong...

After the first round of the NFL Playoffs, do the teams reseed? - Yahoo! Answers

a) They do "reseed". A team isn't given a new seed #, but if 6 beats 3 and 4 beats 5, then 1 doesn't play 4, they play 6.

b) NFL seeding is not based on records, it IS based on divisional champions. It's why the Colts are a 5 seed, but the winner of the broncos/chargers game will be a 4 seed.

c) Look at the other answers people put. "No. They move on to the next round depending on their final season record" "NO. How they play goes by how they started."

It's like everybody got together and said we are going to answer this question wrong. Everybody got it wrong. Terrible. The best answer was actually the guy who said, "Only if they want the grass to grow back next season." At least his answer wasn't wrong.

So...in conclusion, me quoting Yahoo! Answers was terrible terrible terrible. I am very sorry, and shall not disgrace Zurp against like that.

I wonder if a wet fart makes you weigh less than a dry airy fart would. I'd say yes...but I don't know where to search for an answer now that Yahoo! sucks for them.

You ought to change your shorts first. Assuming your new shorts weigh the same as the old one, pre-wetted, you ought to weigh less after the wet fart.
