Raise your kid for religion or rivalry?

Interesting. You have a picture of Coach Tressel in your sig. line. And probably a good quarter or third of the Buckeyes' roster consists of those who would claim that their Christian faith is what is so instrumental to their successes in life.

In defense of HAYN, I'm an athiest but Tressel rocks, football isnt about religion, if he is able to bring in certain kids because they share his ideas thats great, I (and im sure hayn feels the same) dont hate or even dislike christians, we love them because they are buckeyes not because of who they worship.

would you not root for Chris Wells if he announced he was a communist or a satanist? Point being, its their actions that matter, not their beliefs, they are our buckeye brothers.

My wife grew up and went to college in Ohio, but not OSU. I have successfully finished her transformation into a complete Buckeye fan. We haven't fully decided on the religion bit yet (she's Catholic, I was raised Lutheran), but I can tell you for sure that there's no way in hell I'd agree to let my son grow up rooting for the weasels. Thankfully, I don't think I'll have that problem.

I would raise the kid as a Bucks fan, and let the kid be raised in whatever religion my wife would want. The kid would have his entire grown-up life to make up his mind on what religion he really wants to be.

Communist-I cheered for Rob Kelly, so that wouldn't be a problem. If a player was a true Satanist-no, I could not cheer for them. I would cheer for a Muslim, Hindu, or Jewish Buckeye the same way I would for any other Buckeye athlete.

Which begs the question, Is Nader Abdallah a practicing Muslim? If he is, and being a Palestinian, would anyone here not root for the kid?

I hope he cracks the two deep and gets a start or two this year, personally.

Hilarious post, methomps. And so true considering the sad state of UCLA football these days.

As for myself, it's not an issue because I married a woman of the same faith. She was not a Buckeye fan when we married but she's learned to live with it. In fact, she loves going to the games with me whenever we are lucky enough to find some tickets. And of course, she knows better than to teach our kids to root for scUM. They will all be Buckeyes.

I was the middle son of three boys born two years apart on each side. We all had our rebellious times, but none of us ever strayed from rooting for the right college football team. Rebellion is fun, but there are some things that just can't be compromised.

I have raised my children so that they were educated in all of the world's major religions. I believe that it is important for parents to be open and transparent because this gives kids the authentic power to make their own choices and then the security in their religious choice that lasts them as long as they live.

Religion helps them understand where evil lives in this world and who the good guys are.

And all of this is very helpful when it comes to choosing football and basketball teams to support.
Choose to support TSUN and they'll need all the religion they can get! :evil:
