The Highlanders come to Columbus trying to ruin Ohio State's unbeaten season.

RADFORD BREAKDOWN

The Highlanders opened the season with a 72-63 win over Georgia Southwestern on Friday ... Radford is 1-6 all-time against the Big Ten, with the win coming against Penn State two years ago. It is 0-2 in two previous games against Ohio State, the most recent coming in 2002 ... Junior forward Ed Polite Jr. had a double-double in the opener, posting 12 points and 11 rebounds ... Freshman guard Carlik Jones scored 15 points off the bench ... Radford had 23 offensive rebounds in the win. This was a good offensive rebounding team last year, finishing No. 44 in the country in offensive rebounding percentage ... The Highlanders were picked to finish seventh out of 10 teams in the Big South Conference preseason poll ... Radford is ranked No. 193 in KenPom.

Ohio State basketball vs. Radford preview: TV info, key players, stats, prediction

We were up 81-59 with just over 2 minutes left, and then Radford started raining threes. Yeah, our offense got loose and ground to a halt or got sloppy and let Radford closed the margin, but the final score was definitely not indicative of most of the second half. It was fairly indicative of the first half, though, where Radford kept it within ten most of the time.

CJ had a lot of turnovers, a couple of which were just plain dumb, but some where also miscommunications with teammates, like a hand-off to Andre where Andre missed the memo. I almost want to say CJ was our best player in this game, in terms of what he was really giving us (yes, I know KBD had a double-double). Phenomenal to see his shot going down and just to see him have a great scoring game all-around along with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

KBD was great and hit a couple threes, but a lot of his plays against these smaller teams are predicated on the fact that he is easily the longest player on the floor. He had a couple drives where it seemed like he was assuming he would get his own offensive rebound (which he did). He won't be able to do stuff like that nearly as much against teams with better size/length.

Kam came alive in the second half. Had a couple great shots through contact.

Tate is a little frustrating to watch, just because he still doesn't always play within himself. Hit a wide-open three early which then of course emboldened him to keep missing them for the rest of the game. Tried to pull off a turn-around fade-away shot a dozen feet or so from the basket. Love his energy and hustle but I hope he doesn't spend this whole season trying to audition for a pro contract of some sort. And that's cynical of me, I don't really think Tate is focused on that. But hopefully Holtmann can get him to settle in and maximize what he can give this team without throwing away possessions.

We only have two real Gs and only one PG worthy of playing sizable minutes at a high-major. That is very evident. CJ didn't handle the press that well and hopefully that is something that gets addressed in practices. Dakich was worse. We just don't have a lot of backcourt options.

Jallow was quiet on offense last night but still liked what he was giving us in terms of effort and D.

Decent games from both our bigs. I can see the struggles coming once we face a real team with a legit frontcourt, but for now I am not disappointed with our post play, nope.

Just not seeing the minutes for Young this year unless he finds his shot.
