Question about student tickets

I think, technically, that if your friend is not a student himself then you are supposed to upgrade the student ticket to a general public ticket by paying the additional cost of the admission price. Any faculty or staff can give/sell their ticket to any other faculty or staff member and any student can give/sell their ticket to another student without "upgrading" a ticket...the name on the ticket does not need to match the name on the ID, but I believe it is actually supposed to be the ID of the person entering the game (basically, an actual student or faculty member using a discounted ticket).

But having said that...I don't really think the Red Coats (ticket takers) or Yellow Coats (security) even look at the IDs. As long as you have a student ID with a student ticket, then I would find it highly doubtful that someone would stop you from getting in even if they noticed the discrepancy.

It's probably way too time consuming when trying to admit 101,000 fans to look that close, plus I'm sure there is some grey area where you are allowed to give your ticket to a spouse/family member, etc. without upgrading, so all-in-all your friend should likely have no problems.

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem. The ones that check your Buckid usually give it a quick look thats it. They can't afford any more than that given the volume of people that rush the gates 30 mins before kickoff. My brother (who attends Purdue) has done this multiple times using my friend's Buckid and hasn't had any problems. I just highly recommend that when he goes in that it is during a time when the gates are flooded with people.

I agree, I have done this for the last two years and only once has an usher actually looked at my ID (Marshall Game 2004) and I did a great job with photoshop and using a transparency that he didn't know the difference.

Patrons using an Ohio State University Student Football ticket for admittance to any home football game will be required to show a valid autumn quarter BUCK ID or dependent spouse ID at the gates for admittance. As long as you can flash any Buck-ID at the gate, you're fine. Even without one you're fine at least 50% of the time. They never look at a name or picture.
