Saw faster eyes and less anxiety in the pocket than I had previously all year. A few nice layered throws with the right velocity and placement. Then the fade to Jeremiah was on point.

This is the Howard that can win a Natty, and up his stock into being a draft pick. Just remember, when that back foot plants on your drop, start working your vertical climb and he'll be ok.

Looking forward to a repeat against Oregon.

Maybe I am biased by the fact that I saw a much bigger percentage of his games in the stadium versus on TV, but as good as Haskins was, he was playing on easy mode in Day's offense. It felt like 30-40% of his passing yards came from hitting guys so wide open that any QB on the roster that year would have hit them. And that is in no way a knock on Dwayne; I just think CJ was on another level.

i guess i’m just surprised that it’s taken him (and his position coaches) all year to get his footwork right. i think that’s the only thing that’s changed… for sure it’s not that his OL is more stable or that his receivers are more reliable.

To quote coach Tress "the light grows brighter". It isn't so much about a switch being flipped.

I'm charting some snaps and structures and noticing the differences in where and how the coaches and players prepped between tOSU and Tennessee respectively.

Will clearly hit his film and drills with a bit more intensity and time during the playoff prep. It showed and paid off in a big way. I'd venture that was one of the biggest reasons we saw the version of him, with tighter foot and shoulder work, that we did.

Credit an assist from the Tennessee coaching staff on some of their calls along the defensive front. They must have thought they'd just stroll in, run a cut down version of scUMs plan with 1/2 of the IDL talent and felt confident that the Buckeyes coaching staff was to near implosion after The Game to make adjustments. I would say I'm confused, but with all the noise from the media and coming out of C'bus, I'm almost positive they felt Day and Co would retreat into their shells.

for sure development happens gradually, but the difference is remarkable. almost night and day.

maybe it’s what you said about combination of focused prep over 3 weeks and TN really underestimating.

Most people consider Elements to be low quality, but since they reformed the company they are actually very good. Also the only ones made in the US.

Having played with Howard for two years after joining Kansas State from Tyler Junior College in 2022, Savage isn’t surprised by his former teammate’s success at Ohio State.

“He's a great competitor, a great guy, a great leader, a great teammate,” Savage told Eleven Warriors at Tuesday’s Rose Bowl media day. “Somebody you always want to go out there and compete with. It's really cool just seeing him on the other side. I mean, competing with him for the past two years at K-State at practices and stuff, it's really cool to finally play him again. It’s crazy I got to play him twice this season, so it's really exciting.”

Have to give credit to QB1 for his work on the deep ball. The velocity is what it is, but his release timing, stepping into a throw with confidence and the ball being on the spot when it's supposed to be there has helped to take the offense up several notches.

It was also nice seeing him being more of a floor general type distributor when the Ducks went into their zone looks. He wasn't overly locking in on Jeremiah and took open throws as they presented early.

The improvement over the last 6 weeks has been noticeable. He just needs to keep grinding and refining his game.
