QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Tall guys with really long arms often need to hold it high to quicken up their release on shorter throws. When the window is tight, need the ball to come out fast. Also with a guy like Terrelle (6'6") holding the ball high sets the swing plane of his throwing arm over the top (preferred) much easier, strengthens his muscle memory of the "correct throw" if he gets used to holding the ball up there.

But, that could all be hot garbage

That makes sense but even Peyton and Flacco don't hold it that high.

Maybe it just works better for Terrelle?

Could be...I tend to think of it as more of a teaching tool to get him used to the over-the-top delivery, not a permanent change to his ball handling.

Holding it that high, for polished QB's, is often looked down on because it leaves you very susceptible to getting the ball stripped.

To those asking about the longest thread in BP history, I believe the Troy Smith thread lost about half of it's posts during some maintenance issues back in the day. Not sure what the end-result of that was, if it ever got put back together.

Well, even so, Troy's thread wouldn't have gotten his recruitment stuff in it or much traffic until about halfway through his career...

Anyway, this is the longest football related thread I can think of.

I could think of 3 others that are mostly just babble that are longer.. .but, so it gos.

Two things I really like about that coverage:
1. Gotta love his pocket presence. He's shown good pocket presence during every clip i've seen of him. We'll see how real that is when the guys going at him are live and able to take his head off, but still, that's something that stuck out to me.
2. One thing I've tried to stress to people numerous times in this thread is how hard Terrelle works. You're hearing it a lot from other players this camp, but you can see for yourself briefly in the sideline running drill. The kid is fucking flooring it in that 100 degree heat. That's a beast. That guy can be the captain, or at least demand captain like respect based solely on his work ethic. Terrelle can do anything he puts his mind to with his work ethic I swear to you.

He's such an effortless athlete its hard to tell how hard he's working when he's doing his thing. You can tell it in some guys because their faces or bodies are all over the place when they are going full bore, but not Terrelle.

The Tresselizing is almost complete. Everything is team, team team from him. Kid will go down as an all time favorite even if he isnt an all time great, which is still a very good possibilty.
