QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Here is my response to all the Pryor and Rodriguez stuff:

I guess TP's aspirations end with playing QB in college, rather than developing the skills needed to be sucessful at the highest level? Name the last QB RR developed into an NFL-caliber player...now name the last one JT developed (Troy Smith). Heck, he even got Krenzel a chance in the NFL...something most people thought was impossible. The fact is the staff has plenty of time to continue to assure Terrelle that OSU will develop their offensive scheme to maximize his potential. Add to that the continuing effort of Posey, Thomas, Brewster, etc. in recruiting him to OSU and I am not concerned at this point.

I am fully prepared for the circus...but in the end I still will be surprised to see him go anywhere other than OSU.

Wad:

I apologize in advance for asking, but is there any where in particular that I can read more about these overtures or do I need to go through each recruits thread in order to see what has been said/written?

Thanks.

Thank you Wad. I follow your posts in particular and I do have a lot of faith in your gut feelings, (for some reason), so please, keep us in the loop with all that you know-when you know it-within limits (understood). Much appreciated!

I look at it this way...recruiting is about relationships.

Relationships with coaches, other recruits, the University, the city/town it's in and yes even the fans.

Rodriguez has built up a relationship with Pryor.

His moving to Ann Arbor means that one of the major relationships from the WVU side of the fence has been severed which seriously hurts their chances.

However that is still only a single relationship.

That means that between now and signing day all those other relationships need to be built between Terrelle Pryor and TSUN.

Is a little over a month enough time to make up that much lost ground over the year(s) long relationships in place between Terrelle and other programs?

IMO that is quite an undertaking.

If it weren't for Ryan Mallett he would be a lock for Ann Arbor. I just don't know how this will work out. On one hand he T.P. is a much better fit for the system up north but Mallett is a 5 star with a huge upside and a years experience. Which ever one wins the job leaves the other out in the cold.

Mallett to Columbus?

We deleted this post once...because it was so ridiculous.

The suggstion that Mallet would look to transfer to OSU is laughable.

Hello said:
I've heard that there is a thread for rumors, but I have a feeling it's a running joke kinda like "double secret probation".

To all that follow recruiting, just remember that TP has until now through NLOID to fully enjoy the recruiting process as he has been busy playing football Pryor. He's 17-18, don't sweat all of the latest gossip, let him have fun.

This type of stuff is best handled through private messages...instead of posting it in a thread where we are trying to trim the fat as it is...PM one of the admins (such as osugrad21) to dicuss access to the Mill.

I don't understand why epople think Terrelle is in love with RR or something. He likes the system. JT will overcome that slight objection with everything else that has made OSU the prohibitive favorite for months. I have given my opinion on Pryor...now I will not be opening this thread again for a few weeks.

Uh...no and no, IMHO.

Transfers between Big Ten schools are prohibited (conference rules) from being offered an athletic scholarship at their new school. Why would Mallett do this?

If T.P. chooses somewhere else, we'll just have to "survive" (sarcasm intended) with Boeckman, Henton, Bauserman, and Schoenhoft (if he stays at QB) as our QBs.

And, if it were just about the system, T.P. would have had a very different final five before the Michigan coaching change--so I don't think he would be a lock to Michigan if it weren't for Mallett.

I normally dont get in on the recruiting threads but the way I see it....

Tressell..... developed a dual threat QB into a heisman winner and NFL up and commer.

RROD.... developed a duel threat QB into a reciever slash kick returner prospect for the NFL and has used him to the point of having durability issues.

Two points that Pryor himself has commented on:

Relationships: He does have a relationship that carried forward to UM. However, RR also had relationships with the players at WVU and walked away from those. Pryor noticed that. Said he was surprised he left, surprised he left Pat White, surprised he left after saying he wouldn't.

QB Skills: There is little question in my mind that Pryor will be a bigger college star start playing in RR's O at UM than he will playing for JT. He will score more TDs, have more running yards and be the absolute and heralded center of the attack.

But in 3 or 4 years when it is time to move on the scouts are going to want to know how he reads Ds and how he goes through progressions on his receivers. Pryor knows that too.

RR at UM is much more attractive than RR at WVU. I am nervous. But also confident.

Mod or no Mod... That was unnecessary. My point was, both players are highly touted recruits that will compete for the same playing time. My intention was to imply that the one who wins the starting job will force the eventual transfer of the other. I think this could effect Pryor's decision as Mallett will not be a pushover to unseat. Tebow saw some time during Leaks last year, Pryor would have a similiar experience next year at Ohio State. In Michigan it will be different. There won't be a light at the end of the tunnel as one of them will be a career backup barring injury, etc.

I'm not so sure that he'd that much more the "center of attack" at UM than he'd be at OSU. Tressel varies his system based on personnel, and I'm sure he'd employ packages that would best exploit Pryor's abilities. While Tressel would definitely better-develop Pryor as a QB for the NFL, I still think Pryor would be the main cog on the offense, much like Troy was in his sernioe year despite making the shift from "mobile" QB to "pocket" QB...
