Herbie has Pryor listed as the 3rd best dual threat QB in the nation....and not rated at all in the overall qb selection.

WTF I could expect 3rd best overall but really....Colt McCoy is going to give you more issues on the ground then Pryor...mmmkay.

No love from Herbie for almost anybody in the Big Ten or Ohio State on the list. I believe he has Pryor third and Gibson third on some list and thats about it.

McCoy has proven to be more of a dual threat than Terrelle has at this point in his career. I didn't see an overall category, just a pocket category, and a dual threat category. Given their passing AND rushing yards from last season, Tebow and McCoy both have a legitimate claim at being called the #1 dual threat QB in the country. If Terrelle's improvement turns out the way we hope it will, and he becomes more consistent in the passing game, then he will be able to stake a claim at that title too...

McCoy isn't going to take over a game with rushing yards, but he is going to use his feet to buy more time, kind of like a Farve or Elway. He also had a monster season last year, so he deserves mention.

Herbie did have love for the Big Ten, look at LB, a couple of Penn St. guys there. Who do you think from Ohio State (aside from Pryor and Gibson) is deserving of being on the list? I'd say maybe Coleman.....that's about it at this point. Those lists are mostly comprised of the big names. I think the fact that there are not a lot of huge names this year is a good thing for OSU. I really think that some names will surface rather quickly as the year progresses, but it's exciting to see the new cream rise to the top every once and a while.

I know that people are quick to say that Herbie is anit-OSU and a sellout or whatever, but I think his list is pretty good. He'd look like an idiot if he put a bunch of Buckeyes on the list just because he went to school there.

I think #3 is a good place for Pryor. Being a dual-threat isn't just about running, you have to pass too. Pryor only averaged, what, 11 completions a game last year? And I can't get the image of some of those interceptions out of my head. The Penn State interception where the ball had nearly a 4-second hang time was absolutely ridiculous.

Pryor had a 1,300 yard season but much of that yardage came against pathetic secondaries.

That's not to get down on Pryor, he was a freshman. I lived in Texas when Colt McCoy first started at UT and can tell you I see many similarities between both's feshman year.

But as of last year's performances I certainly wouldn't call him a top-10 Qb in college football. If Pryor wants to achieve that level this year he needs to greatly sharpen up his passing game. We know he's got the legs, now he needs to prove his arm. The way NFL teams defeated Michael Vick was to stack the box and dare Vick to beat them in the air, and he couldn't. Pryor needs to prove he has the passing game this year to burn teams downfield if they don't respect him as a passer.

:lol: He had three interceptions, not counting the hail mary at halftime. Overall I agree with you. Pryor certainly needs to improve in the passing game, but this sounds like you are rather easily haunted.

TP's only interception that had any major consequence was the one against State Penn. scUM couldn't convert on theirs, one was against Troy his first start, and what the heck throw one in at Wisconsin where I think he made up for it with a winning touchdown drive capped with him scoring. 12-4 td to int ratio.

extend that out to the td ratio for the top 3 qb's last year-

Bradford 50-8 = Pryor 48-16
McCoy 34-8 = Pryor 36-12
Tebow 30-4 = Pryor 28-9

And comp percentage(TP 60.6%-2% out of the top 20 in the country)
Bradford-67.9
McCoy-76.7(led the NCAA)
Tebow-64.4

Also top 25 in pass efficiency-146.50(ahead of Daryll Clark and Juice Williams)

These stats are from Pryor as a true freshman with little to no preseason practice reps(10-15%) and film time. It could be argued that his offseason at Ohio State has caused his biggest growth as a QB and in turn has produced reactions that he will be a top QB this year.

I disagree with you here. Arm strength is like speed. You can work on it and can see some improvement.....but not much. Some people are born with cannons (Elway, Cunningham), others have to rely on timing and accuracy. I think Pryor's arm is plenty strong, but I am not expecting him to come out throwing darts. He will look a lot more crisp, IMHO, because he will be more certain with his decisions.

Buckeyes benefit most from a running Pryor

By Doug Harris, Staff Writer 1:15 AM Thursday, September 3, 2009 Ohio State sophomore quarterback Terrelle Pryor was sacked 21 times last year, an astonishing total for a player with his agility. But while the much-maligned offensive line was often at fault, Pryor should take some of the rap, too.
The Pennsylvania schoolboy legend seemed intent on proving to the NFL that he?s a capable pocket passer and appeared reluctant as a freshman to rely on his scrambling. But if the Buckeyes are to win a fifth straight Big Ten title, coach Jim Tressel might need to show Pryor some clips from the 2002 season.
