Amazed that ESPN said someone on Ohio State or in the Big Ten was fast, since it's not in the South, SEC and is not USC.

Although Shaun King was on set and I believe he said Terrelle Pryor was the best QB in the NCAA (or the best QB ever or something) on College Football Live in July.

I think he said that Pryor has the potential to become one of if not the greatest College Football players of all time.

Hey I was wondering if you guys think TP could match or even better the stats we saw with Vince Young back in 2005? I think he could be just as good, but when it comes to stats alone do you think we will see that type of season?

Does anyone agree with me though that TP has that fire in his eyes and feel on the field that Vince Young had when it came to winning? When I watched VY I knew he wasnt going to lose (Sophomore/Junior Years) and I feel that hopefully for the next 3 years we will get the same feeling from TP. Anyone else notice that? I think thats his best quality (physically/mentally).

Also can someone tell me how much he has improved passing to his receivers chest unlike what we saw in the Fiest Bowl at times?

Regarding your initial question, yes he might....next year. Not this year.

Regarding the Fiesta Bowl question - he was hurting in that game, it was obvious. Don't judge anything by the way he looked in that game, other than how silly and childlike he made the TX safeties look on those lob passes.

Then perhaps he should try sounding like a well-respected source, and start exemplifying this insight & understanding of the game. He could start by:

c) Stop pretending that a runner-initiated 40 time and a gun-reacting olympic race have any comparison.
That was the main problem I saw with Hinton's article. I have no idea whether Hinton normally writes a good column, but it his Usain Bolt reference, he clearly cited a technically correct statement out of context in an obvious effort to mislead his audience. By ignoring the PAT vs. FAT discussion that was included in the article he linked, he made a fairly obviously intentional misrepresentation. As I said, I have no idea whether his column is normally good, but the fact that he tried to intentionally deceive his audience doesn't speak well for him.

Beyond the news, though, I wanted to pass along two interesting quotes from the evening.

One was regarding QB Terrelle Pryor, and his reported 40-yard dash time of 4.33 seconds. That has been ridiculed nationally, but numerous players swore by it tonight.

Here's what Pryor had to say:

QUESTION: Was that a legitimate 4.3?

PRYOR: Did coach Tress tell you? You gotta ask him. If I say it, you won't believe me.

QUESTION: Did you surprise yourself with that time?

PRYOR: No, I've been running that all through high school.

Tattooed ? Pryor puts his OSU loyalty on his arm

COLUMBUS ?On the right arm that Ohio State?s season?s rests, there?s already great expectations and pressure. Terrelle Pryor decided to add a little color to it in the offseason.

The Buckeyes? massive quarterback ? 6-foot-6, 235 pounds of him ? feels comfortable in his scarlet and gray skin now. So much so that Pryor added a ?Block O? tattoo to his right forearm. Most people would need to put a tattoo that size on a thigh, or throw rug.

?This is where I live now,? Pryor said about the tattoo and his affection for Ohio State. ?This is my home. It?s in my blood now. I love Ohio State football, scarlet and gray and getting wins.?

While Pryor and OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel have grown close and spent an entire offseason getting to know one another better, don?t look for Tressel to toss aside the sweater vest for leather and tattoos.

?If I put that ?Block O? tattoo on me, it?d wrap around my whole arm, and it wouldn?t be just on one side,? Tressel said.

Believe it, Pryor is fastest Buckeye

Friday, August 14, 2009 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus- Terrelle Pryor wanted to check on what Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said about his reported 4.33 time in the 40 meters, because he wasn't going to drop the number himself.
"If I say it, you won't believe me," Pryor said Thursday night.
That's the issue. The Plain Dealer's story five days ago reporting that Pryor ran a 4.33 when timed at Ohio State several months ago has created plenty of doubt on the Internet, where some college football reporters aren't believing that a 6-6, 235-pound quarterback is running the 40 faster than all but one player at any position at the most recent NFL combine.
@StoryAd
The point of the original story was that, regardless of the time, Pryor the quarterback was the fastest Buckeye in those 40-meter tests. That in itself is a pretty unusual thing for a team. And it was mentioned that Ohio State's home turf has a reputation for producing fast 40 times, with NFL scouts who test the Buckeyes well aware of that reputation.
However, when asked at Thursday night's team photo event, several Buckeyes once again confirmed that they saw that 4.33 posted. Tressel said he used to question the timers at Ohio State about slow trigger fingers making players faster than they looked. But he said this was timed electronically, which produces more reliable numbers.

Pryor blossoms as Ohio State quarterback

By Paul Schofield, TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Friday, August 14, 2009

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Terrelle Pryor has graced the cover of numerous publications. He is one of the most recognized players wearing Ohio State scarlet and gray.
At Thursday's Ohio State Media Day at Ohio Stadium, he was hounded for autographs by fans and interviews from the media. It'As just part of being Terrelle Pryor.
Pryor was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year last year, and two weeks ago, he was named the preseason Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
The Jeannette native said he won't let those honors go to his head.
"It's an accolade for Ohio State," Pryor said. "It means nothing to me, but it's a good thing for the university and football team."
What Pryor does want is to create his own identity as the starting quarterback of one of the elite teams in college football and stop those comparisons to Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young, who was considered a run-first quarterback at the University of Texas.
"I don't know much about Vince Young," Pryor said. "I want to play Terrelle Pryor's game and try to do my best for Ohio State University and the football team.
"That's all I'm worried about. I'm not trying to be someone I'm not. I'm trying to be better someday. I don't strive to be Vince Young, I'm not Vince Young and I won't be Vince Young."

VIDEO: Terrelle Pryor growing in starring role at OSU

By JON SPENCER ? News Journal ? August 13, 2009

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor didn?t look any different, standing at attention with some 100 other Scarlet-clad Buckeyes.

But trust coach Jim Tressel. The No. 2 in the team photo snapped Thursday inside Ohio Stadium is nothing like the No. 2 who posed for the camera last August.
?This year, it?s like night and day,? Tressel said of his sophomore signal-caller as Media Day activities wrapped up inside the ?Shoe. ?I sat down the other day with (quarterbacks coach) Nick Siciliano and said, ?Man, what a difference between Day One last year and Day One this year.

?I saw a lot of progress from Terrelle in bowl practice (before the Fiesta Bowl in January) and I saw a lot this spring. I?d like to think 29 (preseason) practices will be huge. I?d like to think we?ll grow and grow and grow.?

Pryor sounded like someone ready to live up to billing as the Big Ten?s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. In a surprise move, the media voted for him over last seasons?s first- and second-team quarterbacks ? Penn State?s Daryll Clark and Illinois? Juice Williams, respectively.

?Right now, things are becoming second nature,? said Pryor, who started the last 10 games as a freshman, leading the Buckeyes to eight wins and a share of their fourth-straight Big Ten title. ?The film room makes a big difference.

Terrelle Goes Animal

By Brandon Castel
Forget the Wildcat, it appears Ohio State will have a real, live African animal in their backfield this season.
According to a recent article on Yahoo! Sports, the only way OSU quarterback Terrelle Pryor could have run a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash, as reported, is if he were an actual gazelle. He might not have horns poking out of his helmet, but according to teammate Lamaar Thomas, Pryor might have some gazelle in him after all.
?It?s the truth,? the sophomore wide receiver said Thursday at Ohio State?s media day. ?It?s legit. We ran in the summer on the track and everyone ran on the same surface at the same time and Terrelle ran a 4.33.?
Nicknamed ?Flash,? Thomas knows a thing or two about running fast and said Thursday that he expected someone on the team might top his laser-timed mark of 4.37, but he never anticipated it would be the quarterback who set the mark for fastest player on the team.
?I ran mine first and Terrelle was in the group after me,? Thomas said.
