QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

CFN: Scout.com: 7/25 Roundtable - 5 Thoughts On The Big Ten

Matthew Zemek, CFN

Q: 5 Thoughts on the Big Ten.

A
: After his untimely turnover a year ago against Penn State, and his distracted, nervous, run-out-of-bounds-before-the-marker performance in the Fiesta Bowl against Texas, Terrelle Pryor—now a sophomore—should take the Big Ten by storm. He possesses the charisma and presence of an A-list leader, and with one season of experience behind him, this battle-tested and defeat-hardened youngster should display the poise of a veteran in 2009. If Pryor fulfills his immense potential, Ohio State should march to the conference crown that avoided the Buckeyes’ grasp last season.

Great that Pryor got voted the Preseason Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

Very surprised he got it over a senior in Clark, in terms of others voting. Hope this is a great year and OSU goes wire-to-wire.

Pryor is set to lead the Buckeyes following a season in which he was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year. The quarterback led the Big Ten with a pass efficiency rating of 151.3 in conference games, making him the first freshman to top the conference in the category since the stat was introduced in 1980. Pryor produced an 8-1 record as a starter and became the first Ohio State true freshman since 1978 to start at quarterback.

Another media outlet that has Pryor Preseason Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

Also listed as the No. 2 pro prospect in the conference by CFN.

While Penn State QB Daryll Clark, Illinois WR Arrelious Benn, and Minnesota WR Eric Decker will all be strong enough to be in the hunt for Offensive Player of the Year honors, and there's always the out-of-left-field potential for someone to step up like Shonn Greene did last year for Iowa and Rashard Mendenhall did two years ago for Illinois, but it's Pryor who has the talent and the superstar potential to be a transcendent player for a program with a long history of transcendent players. There was never a question about his running ability, and now he can pass, too.

Terrelle Pryor not expected to be sophomore captain and other Ohio State notes
by Doug Lesmerises
Monday July 27, 2009

* Jim Tressel was surprised that Terrelle Pryor was named the preseason offensive player of the year in the Big Ten. But don't expect Pryor to add team captain to his list of honors. Tressel didn't rule it out, but he doesn't sound in favor of it. The team will vote later in preseason practice, but Tressel said he holds a lot of votes and he's not sure adding captain to a sophomore's responsibilities would be the right thing to do. Senior tight end Jake Ballard, one of the likely offensive captains, also said he didn't think that a sophomore captain was a good thing, though he said many players look up to Pryor and he is one of the team leaders.

Is he the first sophomore to be voted the preseason offensive player?

Maurice Clarett was actually voted the honor in 2003.

That should be where any similarity to their true sophomore seasons ends. :tongue2:

CBS really needs some better writers

Rodriguez, Pryor need success now to warrant hype - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

One year ago Rodriguez was the next big thing at Michigan and Pryor was the next big thing at Ohio State, but neither delivered
what do these people expect from a true freshman QB who basically was thrown right into the fire?

he completed 60% of his passes and threw 12 tds to 4 ints along with running for over 600 yards and basically led a team to a BCS bowl

but he didnt deliver? Jesus

im thinking these idiots are going to have a foot in their mouth at the end of this season
