Jeannette advances to PIAA Class AA title game with 41-21 win over Wilmington

What?s the difference between Superman and Jeannette High football superstar Terrelle Pryor? Kryptonite can?t hurt Pryor!
?He?s virtually unstoppable,? said Wilmington coach Terry Verrelli after watching the nation?s No. 1-ranked player lead Jeannette to a 41-21 victory over his Greyhounds Saturday afternoon at Slippery Rock University?s N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
An estimated 10,000 fans turned out to watch the game ? most to watch Pryor ? as the 6-foot-6, 220-pound Jayhawk became the first Pennsylvania player in WPIAL history to both rush and pass for more than 4,000 yards. He came into the game needing 117 yards rushing to pull off the double and easily surpassed that by gaining a total of 158 yards to reach 4,041. He also passed for 143 yards, completing 9 of 13 throws against the ?Hounds and now has 4,167.
But as impressive as he is on offense, he also thrilled the estimated 10,000 fans with an amazing 100-yard interception return.
?He?s an unusual human being,? said Verrelli, who saw his team fall for a second straight year in the Class AA Western Regional Championship game to Jeannette. ?He is their team. The other guys are just tokens. He lets them do something once in awhile just so they?ll keep playing with him.?

Just when you think you've seen just about everything from Terrelle Pryor, just when you think he has nothing left in his bag of eye-opening plays, he does something else to drop jaws.
How's this for something new: A 100-yard interception return.
That's what Pryor came up with yesterday. It was the exclamation point on a history-making day for the Jeannette High School senior as he led the Jayhawks past Wilmington, 41-21, in a PIAA Class AA semifinal at Slippery Rock University's N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
The win puts undefeated Jeannette (15-0) into the PIAA final at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hershey, Pa., against Dunmore (14-1), which defeated Loyalsock, 28-7, in the other semifinal.

Pryor scratches Texas from list

Quarterback Terrelle Pryor has eliminated Texas from his list of possible places to go to college, while Oregon and Tennessee made strong impressions on him during their visits last week.

"I'm still doing my homework," Pryor said. "I'm learning a lot more about the Oregon offense."
Ohio State and West Virginia were believed to be Pryor's top choices, although he never has said that. Florida and Penn State are also in the running. After Jeannette's 41-21 victory Saturday against Wilmington in a PIAA Class AA semifinal game, reporters from several Internet and scouting services mobbed Pryor, trying to get the latest information.
Pryor offered little, other than he is concentrating on the state championship game next Saturday in Hershey.

Q: Hey, Doug: Everyone is waiting for Terrelle Pryor to join Ohio State's football program. The thing is, he is already listed as a 2008 verbal recruit for the basketball team. - Ken Stockdale, Raleigh, N.C.


A: Hey, Ken: Have to tell you, I have no idea what you're talk ing about. Thad Matta won't turn Pryor away if he wants to play basketball for the Buckeyes, but Pryor hasn't pledged himself to any school yet.


In fact, the nation's No. 1 high school quarterback from Jeannette, Pa., caused some consternation among Ohio State fans this week when he told recruiting service Rivals.com that he has been studying the offenses of the schools he's considering and he wasn't sure if he fit with the Buckeyes.
"That concerns me about Ohio State because they've never run an offense like the one we run at my high school or that they run at West Virginia, Florida, Oregon or other places," Pryor told Rivals. "I'd like to see them run it first so I could believe they'll change it but I'm obviously not going to get to see that so it creates doubt."
Freaking out over every statement by a teenager during years of recruiting doesn't do anyone any good. But I'm sure in the competition for Pryor that some schools who run the spread option are pointing out the Buckeyes aren't doing that right now. It's up to the Buckeyes to assure Pryor they would tailor their offense to suit his passing and running skills, and they should be able to do that. Their offense changed from Craig Krenzel to Troy Smith to Todd Boeckman, and it would change with Pryor.
Pryor also said he has added Oregon to the schools in the running, but that he dropped Texas. Ohio State, West Virginia, Florida, Penn State and Tennessee are still possibilities.
The Buckeyes did wrap up a big commitment from Minnesota defensive end Willie Mobley recently, bringing their 2008 class to 15. And they're hosting several prospects this weekend, including Glenville's Cordale Scott and West Virginia lineman Josh Jenkins.

What a player, had over 100 yds passing, over 100 yds rushing and an 100 yd interception return for a TD.

OSU needs to get this kid, if OSU does, I can see our Recruiting class going up in the top 5, plus this kid is a beast.

BTW Think Tebow's Stats are impressive, this kid had 4,000+ yds Passing and Rushing this year, just wait till hes in College. :wink2:
