QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Vince Young red-shirted, even though I'm sure he could have helped Texas somewhere else with his athletic ability.

Bottom line, if he wants to play quarterback, he'll need to red-shirt unless he can somehow beat 3 upperclassmen, at least one of whom having starting experience.

That being said, once he gets the Troy Smith treatment from the staff and learns what he's doing, look out...

No offense buck40.. but if u land the equivalent of Vince Young, Mike Vick, Troy Smith... u let him spend all his time on developing as a QB.. u dont play him at TE or DE or even WR....

This is a special QB talent.. therefore u let him take all his reps at QB and learn to study the game from that standpoint... If he has to RS than so be it..

BTW, I dont agree that he should RS and then take over when all our present QBs graduate... With all do respect to Antonio Henton... Terrelle Pryor would have a very good shot of beating him out as soon as Boeckman moves on (given that he's the choice at QB for 07 and 08)... Pryor is a bigger, faster, and better version of Henton..

Troy Smith took reps at WR and returned kicks

Troy also red-shirted.

Nothing is guaranteed, but if Pryor works on his mechanics/footwork and learns the offense, it'd be almost impossible to keep him off the field. He's a carbon-copy of Vince Young, with un-paralleled athletic ability and a strong arm. Henton has a lot of talent, but Pryor is a once-in-a-generation type of player...

He mentioned Smith in with Vick and Vince Young, I was merely refuting that statement.

Yes.. I was talking about elite dual threat QBs... I'm not saying these 3 players are identical types or had identical careers paths... Just that Pryor projects to be a QB on their level (Heisman caliber)... and that I dont think it makes much sense to have him playing other positions when his future is as bright as can be at the QB position..

From what I've heard, Pryor is not just a special player and athlete, but a good QB. He lead his team to the state finals and seemed to hardly ever throw a pick or make a mistake. You add that to his natural athletic ability and that equates to a QB. I think we would bring him in as a QB...another position would just hinder his progression into a high caliber QB imo. But of course here comes the old adage...get them in first and worry about that later.

I don't understand what you are trying to say.

Ok maybe I shouldnt of came across so strong as saying there is no way he redshirts...

But I kinda thought that it would be understood that first off he has to be that athlete that he has been talked up to be and has shown on the high school level. I am talking a top 10 type athlete like a Ginn, Harvin, Bush type guys that can make plays for you.

And in my last part of the post I did say see what the staff thinks of him as QB then let him try other positions and if he can make the field at other postions why not let him play there. I know Qb is important, but if he is going to have to sit on the bench why not let him make plays somewhere else, but still taking reps @ QB in practice.

If he can't crack the lineup at another positin than yeah I am up for a redshirt. I am all about redshirting guys and honestly hate when the staff waste a redshirt on Steams and a couple snaps here and there like they did with Gant this year, and Terry a couple years ago on steams...

Also I would like to see him play some receiver even if he does redshirt, and he is not seeing the field as a QB due to being behind Henton. You hear all the time about team X's backup Qb is playing receiver...

Also he would be learning the offense from a different perspective which will help him out when he takes over the Qb job.

If Bauserman does come back, and Henton doesn't transfer if he loses out this year to Boeckman or Schoenhoft... Terrelle has the size and speed to be one helluva WR. However, he would also be a great weapon at QB. So, wherever the coaches decide to play him, I will go with it, assuming thatis his best position. He plays basketball, so one would have to go with the notion he has prettyg ood hands and great athleticism and would know how to "go up and get it" on a afade route or a throw over the middle, while shielding off the defender. Plus, at WR, it would give him a better chance of playing basketball.
