:osu:It seems like he would be a guarantee to commit to tOSU, but with all of the sec offers it isnt a for sure thing...What you guys think?:osu:
Buckeye.

He'll take his visits, say glowing things about several schools, Buckeye fans will fret, grind their teeth to stumps and proclaim the end of tOSU football...but, in the end, he's a Buckeye.

Was really hoping he would be the leader of this class. It appears that will not happen now.

It's a shame because FSU and a few other schools already have kids working on other kids.

Some love to say that does not matter and IMO they need to get a clue. You need look no further than Zwick in his class, Brewster in his and all the FL kids this year. It works and it's how you build on a solid Rose Bowl win.

Isn't it a little early to be saying that we don't have anybody to do that this year? Sheesh.

Just because someone hasn't given a public verbal doesn't mean they aren't recruiting for a school. :wink2:

What he said...even though I thought Braxton would go public before season started, I would be about as surprised as I would have if Brewster went somewhere else.

Nor does it mean that he is recruiting for that school. In this case, he may tell a kid he likes OSU but it's much different from being a public verbal who is telling kids to come play ball with him. :wink2:

Why? Other schools have kids doing it right now? If for no other reason they have a jump on kids that a kid like Braxton could be reaching out to.

I agree it's early, but every single day that goes by is one you could have used to round up the troops.

First, have you not been reading the posts above? Hotmic has the goods. You don't have to be committed to be recruiting kids to come with you.

Second, if you're fretting this much in March, I'd hate to see you in 7-8 months. The state of Ohio is exceptionally deep this year. tOSU is one of the strongest brands out there right now, it sells itself. Does having a kid recruiting help? Sure. Is it needed? Not really as much as many think. Brew was a rarity. To expect that every year is setting yourself up for a letdown.

Unfortunately, that is what we (the OSU fanatics) do. We expect a BCS championship WIN each year, and then a #1 recruiting class year in and year out. And call for the head of the coach who doesn't provide same. Yeah, we're spoiled. Not just by success, but by the expectations of success. If we don't have the leader recruiting, then we get upset. If the Ohio-star feels like another school is best for him/her, then we get upset (not in print, else the mods would :shake: - as they should). Using Tress as an example, he's got a great winning percentage, has Michigan as his personal whipping boy, AND (best of all) the kids he recruits are good kids and graduate. More are staying in for the full 4-5 years, and the GPA is up. Can't ask for more, but we do. And if the score isn't high enough we complain (shoulda scored 5 more TDs or somesuch), although a win is a win in the won/loss column. Life has a way of working itself out. Many of the high profile kids that we lost, seem to be prima donnas that are 'high maintenance', and don't fit well with the program Tress is running.

We'll have a top ten recruiting class this year, or if not, then somewhere I read that the 'effectiveness' of the recruiting class causes them to be reranked, and OSU does quite well in the starts/star power of the classes that come here.

Finally, our 'mediocre' coaches (no one wants to hire them away from us) seem to turn 2* and 3* players into first round NFL picks. That says alot for the coaching ability to plug kids into the system and win. I'd rather that than take a full 25 5*s and see them all become mediocre (ND comes to mind) and not win. Sorry for the rant, y'all, it just bubbled up (and out).
