QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Wayne freshman already has scholarship offers
Dayton Daily News
Tuesday, April 15, 2008

The scholarship offers are already coming for Braxton Miller, and the Wayne High School quarterback has three prep seasons to go.

In March, Miller visited the University of Cincinnati and attended a basketball game with some of the school's coaches. Then he was invited into head coach Brian Kelly's office.

"He smiled and said, 'I've got something for you,' " Miller said.

Miller said Kelly offered him a UC scholarship, and he has yet to finish his freshman year. Miller entered Wayne's opener against Colerain last season, played an impressive second half by completing 10 of 15 passes for 149 yards and kept the starter's job for the remainder of the year.

At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Miller played basketball for the Warriors, took a three-week break and has resumed his weight lifting and speed training for his sophomore season. Wayne coach Jay Minton has found it difficult to disguise his enthusiasm.

And good news, Ohio State fans. Miller, whose cousin Dee is a former OSU receiver, grew up supporting the Buckeyes.

Gotta be excited about this kid.

?He?s just a freak,? Minton said. ?We would not normally play a freshman like that. But he went in for the second half of the Colerain game and he never looked back. He just stole the job.

?Not only is he better developed physically, but he is also mentally more developed. He is just so much more mature than you would think for a kid so young. Sometimes you just forgot he was a freshman. But he has a full year under his belt. With a trigger man like we have back and a good supporting cast, we are optimistic.?

Is it possible Miller could be the earliest football offer in Ohio State history? From what I recall, JamO was offered and committed as a sophomore. I'm not sure when he was offered as a sophomore, but Miller appears to have the skill, notoriety, bloodlines, and familiarity with the program to potentially be a VERY early offer.

Since they are planning on going after a QB in '10, I would be surprised to see an offer before February 2010, but what do I know?

EVERYONE is talking about Miller. If he keeps progressing like he is, he is a lock for a 5 star and imo, probably top 10 in the country. Some people from Wayne think if he was in the '09 class right now, he would have an offer. If Coach Minton has words that strong for a player, take heed to them. Braxton is going to be a star. Only question really is what position? He plays QB right now and from what I hear, he has great potential there. However, most feel he will play WR at the next level (obviously it's very early).

Trying to plan out some HS games to check out this year and I happened upon Huber Heights' 2008 schedule.

Of note, a controlled scrimmage against Spencer Ware and Cincinnati Princeton on Friday Aug 15.

Also the game @Northmont has C.J. Barnett. Trotwood has big Chris Freeman and a good '10 prospect Anthony Gibson (DE/LB type). Don't forget '10 prospect CB Terrance Talbot from Wayne, who plays on Miller's team. There is a lot of talk about him but I will probably try to make it out to a game myself, likely the Northmont game or Herbstreit Classic.

Is the East St. Louis team they play in the Classic the team with Kraig Appleton and Terry Hawthorne?
Yes it is, should be an entertaining game especially on offense for both teams. Don't know if it's been mentioned yet in this thread, but I believe the game is going to be on ESPN 2 so if you can't make it to the game you can set the DVR.

Doing some more digging around...

MaxPrepsTV - Braxton Miller - Wayne, OH 2007 Football

I love the way he's always looking downfield. And I like his accuracy on the run...at least the ones that are shown. Hard to believe he was a frosh in these clips.
Nice find and WOW! This kid seriously has three more years of high school ball to develop?! That was better than most senior highlight reels of kids that are going to division 1 schools. I agree about the way he's always looking downfield, that's extremely impressive for a kid his age playing that kid of competition to have that kind of pocket pressence and poise. He's got very good speed too, his runs were equally as impressive as his throws. I also liked his release point on his throws. This kid's going to be good, but can you imagine if he grows a few more inches? Unstoppable.
