QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

There's nothing interesting about someone trying to level a very inconsistent 3 games from Braxton to two prolific dual threat QBs, the latest of which had tremendous accuracy. That's why it's bleacherreport.

Newton wasnt very accurate his first 3 games. Only around 55%

He got better as the season went on, I expect the same for Miller.

He's put up video game numbers, and the scary thing is...I don't even think he's played all that well as a whole. In other words, it'll probably get better.

Totally agree. After I watched the game I looked at the stats and thought to myself, "Damn, he didn't even really play that well". And that just goes to show how much potential he has. Average game and yet he was still able to lead OSU on a long drive to take the lead, and then he was just able to toss it to a wide open Smith for the win.

Someone else mentioned that they were annoyed that Miller wasn't getting as many rushing attempts, and I too had that thought in the 3rd quarter. The offense looked terrible and even though I didn't want him to have to run 20 times, I thought they could've tried a few more runs to get the yards and move the ball. Looking back I'm happy they didn't do that because it was basically a message to Miller and the whole offense of: "Hey, doesn't matter how good of a rusher you have at QB, it can be taken away, and if you can't execute in other areas of the game, this is what the offense will look like". I'm hoping that those guys look back at that 3rd quarter as a learning point and motivation to improve and not be a one trick pony.

As for the playcalling...well I didn't love it, but it wasn't the main problem in the game today. Miller just looked lost at times, but honestly it's nothing that is too surprising for a guy his age. He makes 3 amazing plays, then has a quarter where you just scratch your head and wonder what he's thinking. He'll do that all year, I just hope the lengths of bad become shorter and happen less often.

I think the telling stretch of games is coming up in the next 3 weeks. UAB should be a Miami-type game, but it is one that Miller and the team really needs to build off going into @MSU & Nebraska. MSU has a the defense that will shut Miller down on the ground and that game will come down solely to how well he throws the ball that night. And Nebraska has an offense that can run all over this defense, so Miller needs to be able to move the ball consistently or OSU will find themselves in a 14 point hole fast.

So was I the only person being extremely bitter that they wern't giving braxton a chance to throw down field more than like 10 yards during the 2nd half of the cal game? Or was it just me sitting behind the endzone having a bad point of view?

Other people on this offense need to put up their hands and play a bigger role. The play calling yesterday forced the offense to rely less on Braxton Miller running. That said, thank goodness for that ankle breaker!

Not a coach but if Braxton could get in a rhythm with a few short slants hitches etc it may help him with his mechanics and confidence..all in all the more he plays and has success the better he will be. Though I would drill the mechanics footwork things every week at practice.

I had an endzone view from #A. It wasn't that they weren't giving him the chance to throw down the field he had numerous guys open 15 20 yards down the field or more at times. He was just throwing short to the flat for the 5=7 yard gain on those. I'm not sure if he was told to read short to deep or was just missing them.

Week 3 Heisman Watch: Geno Smith leads wide-open race as Matt Barkley falters

By Chris Huston | Blogger/Heisman Pundit

4. Braxton Miller, QB, Ohio State -- Miller passed his first test this past weekend, helping the Buckeyes survive a scare against Cal. In fact, Miller came through in the clutch, hitting Devin Smith for a 72-yard touchdown with 3:26 remaining to provide the margin of victory. Miller continued his impressive production, accounting for 324 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. His numbers through three games are very close to where Tim Tebow's were after his first three games as a sophomore starter in Urban Meyer's system and he's doing it without the kind of dynamic vertical threats Tebow had at his disposal. He is on pace to have 2,436 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards with 48 total touchdowns in just 12 games. Even without a conference title game to buoy his campaign, these numbers are good enough to win. Can he join Andre Ware as the only players to win the Heisman while on NCAA probation?

I remember one play vividly where Braxton threw one behind Stoney as Stoney was coming across the middle. Everyone around me thought it was a terrible throw, but I thought it was a terrible route by Stoney. It was a zone, and he's got to learn to sit down in that zone, rather than continuing his route. I'm glad to see Braxton developing, but I'd like to see the team develop more chemistry on things like that.

There are WRs open on just about every play and right now he's not seeing them. The offense is hit or miss. Once he starts seeing the whole field there will be an explosion of this offense. At some point it will happen this year!
