QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

Coaches mercenaries, players mercenaries, fans mercenaries..Alumni of a University deal with it. I’ve chosen to embrace it. 1972 isn’t coming back.
It certainly isn't, but it's not just the NIL stuff, it's the shifting of the whole CFB landscape. Schools jumping conferences, etc. Rivalries and traditions, one of the BEST parts of CFB, are dying. The fun of the sport is getting snuffed out (to me anyway). I don't like it.

He probably shouldn’t have reclassified if he only had one year of patience in him.
Yeah. But didn't he get something like a cool million in NIL money? No kid is gonna pass that up. I'm sure Day and the staff told him he would not play this year. And it's not like Stroud/McCord were a couple of slouches. He had to know he had a battle in front of him. It is what it is, I guess. Hard to see much playing time coming when there's a Heisman finalist in front of you. Kids aren't going to wait their turn anymore.

on the flip side this probably sets a precedent that will make coaches think twice before agreeing to take a player like this who reclassifies. The landscape of college football is completely insane now.

Many times we make poor choices based on current circumstances without considering the impact to our futures. Did any of Ewers' decisions hurt his chances at future earnings? Only time will tell.

Styles reclassified. Day must be ok with reclassification. QB is different you can only play one at a time. And your not rotating unless it’s all you got.
Styles is also reclassifying way in advance, in time to make it to summer workouts and fall camp. Coming in a week or two before the season starts makes it nearly impossible to expect to know a position/playbook well enough to play that year.

He could be returning to his home state for any number of reasons - homesick, chance to play next season, NIL money, girlfriend, etc..

Some adults need to stop acting like an 18 year old kid did something personal to them.

Again, he only came here to cash in on the NIL (it's not legal for a HS kid to do it in Texas). He never had any intention of staying here. Kid played the system pretty well. I expect to see him announce for Texas in the near future. No need to get anyone's panties in a wad, he was only here for 4 months.

One thing I don't understand: I read where he only played 4 games his junior year and obviously none his supposed senior year, so how was he the #1 QB? From Sophomore year stats? Weird.
From his wikipedia:

As a sophomore, he completed 291 of 402 passes for 3,998 yards with 45 touchdowns and three interceptions. Ewers and Southlake Carroll advanced to the Texas 6A Division I quarterfinals before being defeated by Duncanville. Ewers finished his junior season with 2,442 yards and 28 touchdown passes in eight games, missing six games due to injury, as Carroll advanced to the 6A Division I Texas State Championship Game before losing to Westlake High School
