It also could indicate that he's looking for a school willing to do whatever it takes to land him and where there will be no competition at the position.

There's no evidence he demanded anything. He saw that he wasn't going to be the starter next year and decided to look for a place where he had a better shot at it.Still disappointed the kid didn't go the route of straight competition... best man plays
instead of demanding to be guaranteed
Agreed. I didn't see any indication that he made any demands whatsoever. I think he knew now that he wasn't going to get any real playing time at least until the 2023 season. There's no evidence he demanded anything. Nobody knew how good Stroud or McCord or even Miller were. There's a scenario where he bides his time and becomes the starter towards the end of the season if none of those guys are it. He bet on himself, while making a million dollars. Now he sees that Stroud was a game away from winning the Heisman, and he wants his best chance somewhere else. Some on this website wanted Stroud benched after 3 games and were ready for a change.and he didn't realize that when he came in? He had 3 other highly recruited QB's in the room that had at least a 6-8 months or more head start on him, he wasn't going to get the reps he needed in practice bc they had to get the other young QB's up to speed on the game plan. He should have been treating this 1st yr as a great opportunity to soak up the playbook, get adjusted to college life, and treat next year like his freshman yr. We all assumed 2023 would be his ysar. If that wasn't the thought process from the very beginning.... then he obviously committed to OSU for the wrong reasons.
Apparently not. He was the #1 player in all of 2022 high school, with a perfect 1.000 recruiting ranking (I think only the third kid in history with that ranking). He truly thought he had a shot...and he didn't realize that when he came in?
He's making business decisions, he's not talking shit on anybody, and we're set for QB for the foreseeable future. I don't understand why people need to create a villian.

Yeah, I don't see any shenanigans on Ewers part. With NIL, playing time is at a premium. Can't imagine companies are too keen on paying a kid to sit on the bench for another season. That said, I don't like where the sport is going one bit. I get it from the kids perspective; but as a fan, it sucks. Kids will no longer be patient enough to sit for a couple of years before their turn. You recruit a 5* kid, chances are you better be able to play him straight away or he's going to go where he can. It's basically turning them into mercenaries. Bummed, because CFB used to be, by far, my favorite sport. I'm having trouble coming to grips with all of the changes that have already occurred and are certain to occur in the coming years. The game just isn't the same.Agreed. Coaches mercenaries, players mercenaries, fans mercenaries..Alumni of a University deal with it. I’ve chosen to embrace it. 1972 isn’t coming back.Yeah, I don't see any shenanigans on Ewers part. He probably shouldn’t have reclassified if he only had one year of patience in him.Yeah, I don't see any shenanigans on Ewers part. With NIL, playing time is at a premium.
