Geez I don't think this is the right decision... I can't believe he'd win the job because if he did we are looking for 3 QBs.

Him waiting and putting a year between Stroud and himself would be the better decision. Then again maybe he comes in and lights it in fire like Trevor Lawrence did.

Edited: how would I know it's the better decision for him. For OSU it makes more sense for him to wait but no way we tell him no.

Another scholarship player has to be cut, current backup qb's transfer, and he's eligible for the draft a year earlier. But if he comes I guess Day has to take him because of the implication...

Also, if he doesn't win the starting job next spring he may jump through the portal.

Sooo everyone here is under the impression that Day is not in the loop on this decision??

also technically he could “grey” shirt pay his way for the first semester with this NIL then join the team in the fall…
however i’m not sure about grey shirts and practicing etc…

i’m kinda here refusing to believe Day and OSU aren’t in the loop on this at all.

The eleven warriors article indicates Day has been in contact with him and his family. It says the family appreciates Day because he approached the discussion with them as a parent more than as a coach, which says to me (subjective interpretation of course) Day tried to sell staying in high school.

Just sayin':

a) Almost everyone else in college will be at least 1 year older than you, most 3, 4, or 5 years. Do you really want to miss your senior year of high school?

b) (Unless you can win the starting job in 2021) you'll probably make more NIL money for the seasons 2022 - 2025, than you would for seasons 2021 - 2024; since you'll undoubtedly be starting an additional year.

A grey shirt is an incoming college freshman who postpones his enrollment in classes until the second term of his freshman year. This means they don’t take classes until the winter term. The NCAA allows college athletes five years to complete four years of eligibility after initial enrollment.

Grey shirting is not enrolling until the 2nd semester which would put his legibility out to the 2026 season; which is exactly what it would be if he enrolls next fall.

Ewers could earn nearly a million dollars over the next year, according to Yahoo, as he already has offers from companies that he would not be able to accept as a high school athlete in Texas.

Yeah, a million dollars is a lot of money. If he could earn that in high school just think what he could earn with a "Trevor Lawrence" type career in college.

Do high school athletes ever buy a (loss of value) insurance policy?
