QB Kirk ‘Nightmare On’ Herbstreit (Frosted Quips, Afraid of THE Lunatic Fringe)

So they want him to lose his job for NOT being a Buckeye homer on espn.

That makes a little more sense, even though people like Jax have constantly stated they don't want a homer, they just want a non-saboteur.

Don't believe those whiners, Herbie is a tried and true Buckeye. They want him to lose his job for being a Buckeye homer on espn.

That last sentence doesn't make a lick of sense.

Maybe he meant to say "they want him to lose his job for being a buckeye homer on espn."

Pretty sure that's what he typed

They want him to lose his job for being a Buckeye homer on espn.= they want him to be so much of a homer on ESPN that he would lose him job because of it.

Ask Jax if Herbie has lied. When? Link? Jax and the rest want Herbie to be the Christ to Mark May's anti Christ
. True statement?

There are ways to be critical of OSU's offense without saying recruits shouldn't go there.

Many people are faced with work situations which ask them to do things they are uncomfortable doing or go directly against their beliefs. Perhaps Herbie is asked to read from a teleprompter and/or script. It's pretty obvious that Mark May & Lou Holtz' characters are scripted.

If he is asked to misrepresent his feelings or do things he doesn't want to do, then he should leave his job. If the job is more important than the difficult task, then he has to live with the consequences of those statements.

No, far more ridiculous hyperbole than you're accusing "Jax and the rest" of stating.
When? Link?
I can't count the number of times Jax has made a statement like this, but apparently you couldn't be troubled to read the posts on the page you were posting on.

There are ways to be a proud alum and a good broadcaster without being a homer and then there is the way Herbstriet has gone about things.

His higher profile requires him telling offensive recruits to not go to OSU? Things of that nature? I don't buy that for a second. He doesn't have to be a homer but he doesn't have to be an assassin either.

Has anyone said he lied? I don't think anyone ever has. Were people upset when he said "If I'm an offensive recruit, I don't know why I would even look at Ohio State"? Yes, people thought that was over the top. When he sat idly by as Mark May, Trev Alberts, and the slew of ESPN anchors dragged Trssel and Andy Geiger over the coals, he was way too quiet for some. In fact, the only ESPN big name to take a stand against the company was Colin Cowherd. Everyone else fell in line including Herbie.

Wearing Michigan garb with the band, being a part of Nick Lechay singing Michigan's fight song atop the shoe, and a whole slew of other things make people galnce twice at him. The over-the-top ripping the Big 10. My God, he said after the loss to LSU in the championship game, that Ohio State set the Big 10 back 50 years. That could be considered a lie, because of how ludacris the statement is. The over-the-top hyperbole he spits to not come off as a homer pisses people off.

NM . btw I wasn't quoting anything Jax posted but rather the attitude of those who hold Herbie in that regard.

If we all left our job everytime we were asked to do something we didn't want to do, we'd all be on welfare.

I hate to rain on the parade folks, but Herbie doesn't owe the Buckeye faithful a damn thing. He gives plenty back to the state of Ohio with his high school games, that's enough for me. Then again, I'm not hard to please. It's just funny that some on this board are still recycling the same old shit that they were saying about him 3 years ago. If you dislike him that much turn off the fucking broadcast and listen to it on the radio.

I couldn't care less what he does or says in his spare time. I think he does a good job as an analyst, and will leave it at that.

Is it just me or has this conversation gotten stale?

No, you'd have to choose if your job or your behavior/reputation is more important. If it's the latter, you find a new job. That's a personal decision many are faced with, and they have to live with the consequences.

So you mentioned Jax but weren't talking about anything Jax said? Ok.

You brought up Jax to start with, I simply commented on your posts which, luckily, I did read.

Exactly. OSU signed a top-2 recruiting class a month later, the biggest recruit of all time a month after that, and had another top-5 class finished up about 4 months later.

I'm sure it would be hard to choose that position or to be unreasonable towards your alma mater. I don't envy that situation, but I wouldn't expect someone to excuse my decision if I chose money & position over my alma mater.

You hopped into a discussion and backed up Sloopy disagreeing with Jax' characterizations, who was one of those whiners.

I noticed he was being a little tough on them in one of the USC games, but asides from that I can?t remember him being overly critical.

I live near NY so People I know people with strong feelings for almost all major conferences and Teams. Herbies got widespread respect as one of the best CF analyst out there. He's a good ambassador for OSU and he makes no qualms about being a proud Buckeye.

Remember the Herrrrb-Street chants in 91' (92 possibly?) when KG wasn't getting it done?
