QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips, Brain with a Lunatic Fringe)

Kirk Herbstreit: Why Ohio State is college football's best team at midseason

Kirk Herbstreit and the ESPN's panel of analysts revealed their individual top six rankings this week, and the former Ohio State quarterback has the Buckeyes at No. 1. Ryan Day's team is ranked at the top of college football in total offense and scoring offense alongside Tennessee, which recorded the nation's best win over the weekend after toppling Alabama.

Ohio State hosts Iowa as a 29-point favorite this weekend and has won every game by double digits this fall.

"Well, I think based on consistency — not necessarily who they have played — I put Ohio State up at No. 1 because the way C.J. Stroud and those receivers have played and executed, not to mention their balanced attack with that run game," Herbstreit said. "That's without Jaxon Smith-Njigba. So they've been incredible. I think Jim Knowles' defense seems to be getting better and better. But again, we're not going to know how good they are until down the road.

"And I don't even know if at Penn State anymore — it looks like — it's on the road, but who knows if that's one that can give us a good idea. Might be Michigan at the end."

This thread continues to embarrassingly hilarious. It takes a certain pathetic Buckeye "fan" to be so ridiculously butt hurt over things he says in a national broadcast as to discredit him as a "fake" alumni. It's even funnier when non-alums chime in with their horse shit.

I agree with most of what you post, Jake, but not this. The anger toward Herbstreit arises from years of behavior. There is no need to even summarize it. He has gone out of his way to harm the image of Ohio State and its recruiting on several occasions over the years . A few kind words toward Ohio State now change nothing. Nor will any amount of posts trying to gloss over that harm. I hold an alumni award from Ohio State. I have spent decades promoting its brand and helping create opportunities for its students. I taught there. I am not a fan boy. I am not unfair. He is what he is.
