QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips, Brain with a Lunatic Fringe)

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit criticized players who opt out of bowl games to prep for the NFL draft and thinks "this era of player just doesn't love football.”

Hey, it's not that the players doesn't love football, it's just that they love money more and don't want to risk injury. And you really can't blame them; it's all about the money now.

What I feel is hypocritical, the players make some announcement that "they are opting out to prepare for the NFL draft". Why don't they just tell the truth? i.e. I'm opting out so as to not risk any injury that could hurt my NFL draft position, etc."

The Bowls need to ante up and agree to provide $$ and insurance policies in order to get true stars to play in their non-playoff bowls. The days of them making money off of unpaid college athletes are over.
