QB Kirk ‘Nightmare On’ Herbstreit (Frosted Quips, Afraid of THE Lunatic Fringe)

So, in other words, in his opinion he told the truth? Nonsensical.
look, he has a platform and was voicing his opinion. Your fellow administrator even conceded that his opinion may be right. I guess he is buying a plate full of nonsense. Of course, it couldnt be just a really good opinion?

An opinion isn't valid and acceptable just because it is uttered. If it's foolish or overboard, they deserved to be called on it.
Your fellow administrator even conceded that his opinion may be right.
No, he possibly agreed that Herbstreit was acting like Mark May.
I heard an opinion today on the radio from someone who believe jim zorn was going to be canned. Maybe, maybe not, but he did go out there and say something.
Oh good, now even random comments on the radio are worthwhile

No, he's just having an emotional meltdown you'd expect to read among immature message board posters, not supposed college football experts. Then again, that gets back to the topic of whether he's employed to get it right or get ratings.
Of course, it couldnt be just a really good opinion?
Not really.

Could you point out the fat linemen for me?

The one hidden in this shot is Cordle, who has been a little too trim at OSU, if you're going to call out his weight.
The only OL who could be called fat is Boren, and his play has been very good. Kirk isn't targeting him with his insults.

Fat, lazy and the most underachieving OL in a decade was what put him over the edge...

physical fat-id disagree. i have no idea what kind of shape the team is actually in, they dont seem to come out and bury teams and wear them out though... so ill give than an eh.
lazy-well ive seen (or havent seen) they way this team fires off the ball, plays whistle to whistle and white line to white line... so i cant fully disagree.
underachieving ol- well ive been hearing about how good the line is going to be for about half a decade now (2005ish?) and it has yet to materialize. so yest id say it appears theyve underachieved, were overrated, poorly coached, didnt take the coaching, or other factors, or more than one of those.
in a decade- that would be since 1999ish, hard to say, id have to do a lot more evaluation, then again each of the lines the past five years or so have been disappointing.

its always interesting to see those who get fired up over half truths and full truths...

it isnt thier fault, they just have more literal personality. Eh, maybe you have a bunch of attorneys on here who will refute everything that cant be 100% verified. It would seem to be very hard to go on any type of message board with that expectation. the whole point is to form opinions and discuss.

I've heard the ESPN boards are much easier to use.

And your nonsense would be drowned out by the 10,000 other blathering fucking idiots as well.

Show me one fucking time Herbie has called any other player on any other fucking team "fat", "stupid", "queer", or any other thing you might call someone you wanted to fight, and I'll admit I overreacted. You can't. So I won't.

Eh, maybe you have a bunch of attorneys on here who will refute everything that cant be 100% verified.
You need a lawyer to tell you that those linemen aren't fat, and that calling them that destroys Herbie's credibility & platform from which to be worth hearing his other criticisms?
the whole point is to form opinions and discuss.
So if I call you an idiot, and then proceed to make a number of scathing criticisms about your personality, you'll welcome the criticism? Doubtful. That's rude and inflammatory, and taints anything else I'd say to you. Note: I'm not calling you an idiot, just making this about the personal nature of his attack.
the whole point is to form opinions and discuss.
And yet you haven't discussed any of my responses to you.

He actually said "in the last 10 years, or college football history", and he wasn't just talking about OSU lines, so you'd have to do a heck of a lot more evaluation to verify that (non)truth. It's actually pretty easy to say: he went way over the top and made a completely unverifiable and almost certainly wrong statement. There are a lot of people here making reasonable critiques of the OL play this year and in recent years, but Herbie is not one of them with his recent comments.

While I tend to agree with the substance of what Herbstreit said, the semantics don't sit well with me. I too am frustrated many times with the line and QB play but I would never come on here and articulate those feelings as Kirk did on the record. I think he views himself as someone who says what needs to be said and he feels being harsh will prove it.

He crossed the line. End of story. His slant against tOSU in an effort to retain credibility has rendered him equally non-credible.

I wonder how this plays out when tOSU makes a run at a MNC... does he come home as the Prodigal Son... Frankly, I'm with the older brother in this story if he does.
