QB Justin Zwick (B1G Champion, National Champion)

As far as Troy goes, its a tough call, he has completely embarrased himself and the university. He is supposed to be the leader of the team, I don't think he is ready for that role. Will he even be with the program in the spring? No one knows how this is going to play out.

His taking of the improper benefits occured well before the season started, so he wasn't in the leadership role yet. I'm not toning down what he did, but rather saying he didn't do it while as the team leader. As for his status for next season, I doubt he transfers unless the NCAA really blasts OSU, which I don't think will happen due to his transgressions only being level two violations. I think his sitting out the bowl game and the spring and fall practices will give him time to mull over just what he did, and I think it will motivate him even more. Hey, he got a taste of leading Ohio State to a convincing win over Michigan...you can't get that taste anywhere else.

Zwick stepped it up when we needed him, and I thank him for that. He continued to play even after his minor injury and he was successful. But can he compete against the Big Ten (and Texas') defenses next year? Just remember that last week no one even thought about Justin Zwick, and now we're talking about a QB controversy just because he lit up a terrible Oklahoma State defense. We'll just have to see what happens. I'll support whoever wins the starting job.

I think Zwick's hammy was worse then many may think. There was one pass right after he pulled it that as soon as his weight went to his front foot (pulled hammy) he collapsed. After that it seemed as if Zwick was throwing flat footed, meaning he wasn't throwing off his back foot like he used too, he just couldn't step up into this throws. You could really tell when he tried to go deep to TG, that was a bad pass. The one thing Zwick did very well early on was throwing the deep ball.

Great clips, thanks fellas. I love the one with audio where you can hear the crowd go "ooh" as Zwick blasted the guy.

I think that Zwick played a very efficient and gutsy game on Wednesday. He was not a worldbeater, but he did not need to be. I think that his style is the QB that Tressel seems to go for, will it be enough to keep Smith off the field (if everything is cleared), I'm not sure. His leadership seemed to be improve, and he had a little swagger in his step, something that he lacked early in the season. Zwick is a guy that is capable of being one of the best in the country if he is confident. He is not afraid to make passes in between 2 defenders.

With that being said I feel that Zwick is our starter next season. We have a plethora (sp?) of talent around him, so all that he has to do is give them the damn ball. Smith's mishap really hurt OSU, and though it wasn't a huge infraction it opened up a very agonizing wound. I think that he should be 3rd on the depth chart in the spring, if he can even practice. I'm sure that Troy would like to have it back but he shouldn't have taken the damn money in the first place. If he is suspended for the first game next year it gives Zwick a chance to play well against Miami and lock down the QB spot. I have a hard time seeing Tressel give Smith his first start of the season against Texas, so Zwick will probably get the nod there. If Zwick plays well Smith may have screwed himself out of a starting nod in 2005.

I'll tell ya what....

I would take Zwick over Smith under a couple of conditions. I prefer, IMO, to have a QB back there who can read the defense and get the ball down the field to the real playmakers at WR in Holmes, Ginn, Gonzales, Hall. Zwick is 6'4" and can see over the big line better and can see the passing lanes more clearly, IMO. I've seen Smith ditch and run too many times for my taste. Now he is a WONDERFUL athlete with a strong arm but QBs who run too much take an awful beating and WILL get hurt at some point. Smith truly fustrated me in the games prior to the Miiiiiiichigan game. When they are in a spread offense with 4 recievers with the talent of Ginn, Holmes spit wideout you can't tell me that SOMEONE isnt open so he ditches and runs. I, personally, couldn't stand that and I hope Zwick learns to pump fake more and check off his reads. If he learns to read defenses, check reads then I think he has the arm and just ENOUGH mobility to make a difference and be a great OSU QB. Well, great in Ohio State at QB is somewhere around 15-20 tds and 5-7 ints. I would take a QB that could throw for 15 tds and 6 ints and 2000 yards. As long as he moved the offense because lets face it, we haven't had a running game in 2 seasons and now need to mix the dump off passing game as part of our ball control style of offense. I just hope that Tressel keeps opening up the offense next season.

Don't bother moving it...

The fucking "rumor" doesn't even have a name...

Here's your answer

Its either the kid on NCAA probation...

Or the kid who would back up the Kid on NCAA probation.

I guess both might have a reason to be less than happy....

Isn't this November Rumor Mongering?
