QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

I'd say the likelihood of him being 80-85% is greater then him being 100%. It could have been a young kid slipping up he's not a 10 year NFL bet however it could just as equally be gamesmanship. So basically the best bet right now is to assume everyone lies.

Likewise not buying it. We know enough about sports to know that if you're not 100%, you don't announce it at a press conference. And even if it is true, adrenaline covers the other 15-20%.
Justin has been doing this all season though... After FAU he mentioned being beat up and I was like "um maybe leave that out".

I personally believe him but I don't think it'll impact him.

It's his first year of playing and the wear and tear can be a shock to a kid. He's been really honest about everything. But it's in his best interest to learn about being a "pocket" QB. Read defenses and extend plays and take hits when necessary.

First off all, and I think to Steve's point, it's a random number picked out of thin air by the athlete himself. It's not like some trainer said "Well, your knee is about 80 to 85% healthy" in all likelihood. And, frankly, I don't even know what that would even mean.

Second, he said he's going to be using the smaller brace. The one he used for the beginning of the scUM game. When... to our eyes...he was more or less perfectly fine.

I am pretty sure Fields is gonna be perfectly fine and I doubt there will be any pages taken out of the playbook.

If he's wearing the bulkier brace at practice then that's either excessive gamesmanship or he's just a truthful kid. You can borrow 50% of my knees for the next week or so, if you need it.

That's just "maximum protection" against further aggravation of the injury during practices.

Yeah, that's just an "estimated number" and means nothing. It doesn't mean that he can only do 80 - 85% of the plays, move 80 - 85% as fast as he could have before the injury, it only hurts 15 - 20% of the time, or only has 80 - 85% of his normal strength in the leg, etc. Who really knows what it means (other than his leg just doesn't quite feel as good as it did before the injury)?
