QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

I keep seeing this. Why would this be a plus? Haskins won't be here next year. Does he need Haskins to physically tell him that Ohio State is kinda good? Cuz I feel like eyeballs would work just as well there.
I think the benefit is more that Quincy Avery worked with Haskins and watched Day turn him into a Heisman finalist and first round draft pick in one season of starting.

Fields is interested in the exact same career trajectory, and Quincy and Haskins are both there to tell him that Day is the guy to make that happen... because he already did it.

It seems like a really straightforward thing to me.

Herbs is just trying to come to grips with the fact that he'd be 4th string QB as a Senior in this program... and the only destination that'd be remotely interested in his transfer is up north.
It does bring to mind some of Malcolm Gladwell's, and others', points about the importance of timing and luck in life. Even though he wasn't much of a starting QB for OSU, he was still a starting QB for OSU. Without that, does any of his ESPN career happen?

I can't say for sure but I don't think his IQ was going to open many doors for him.

Relationships matter ... makes for a conduit to build a relationship to Day.
Not that im buying all of this or know what to think about it .... im just in trust the coaches mode.

From the OU board link above,

"I don't want either one of those transfer QBs.

I also don't think the coaching staff should even consider them -- it's like taking a big crap on our QB room.
"

Talking about the same school that just had two transfer QB's win the Heisman? College football fans sure can be the dumbest people on the planet.

The best are from the scUM boards where they actually have posters saying us looking at Fields is an indictment on our QB recruiting. Yes...the school that has relied on transfers to man their QB position for 3 of the harbrau's 4 years are saying that tOSU sucks at QB recruiting because we're considering bringing in a transfer. There are plenty of dumb fans out there for every program, but the DFBIA stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Based on their "success" with their QB transfers, their "thinking" has a certain logic.

What's the popular phrase over there? "ZERO FACTS AND EVIDENTS!!!11"
Gentlemen, I assure you - NOOOOOBODY in Athens believes this. Justin is a stud and he just wants the chance to play more.

When this is all said and done, if he lands at Ohio State, how's about a little deal thrown our way? I'm thinking a home and home in the next 10-15 years might be appropriate.
Let's do that regardless!
