Zero has happened in the last 5 weeks that we all didn't expect. The same questions still exist.
Frankly, I largely disagree. I suspect that I'm not in the minority on that point.
No matter what happens this Saturday JT is the most accomplished QB to put on the grey and grey (I had to). However, if it goes south in no way should he be benched because at this point the season would be over anyways. If we were to lose we aren't getting into the big ten championship again and we certainly aren't going to the playoffs. So switching QB's would be pointless and JT has earned the right to go out on top IF this doesn't workout on Saturday for him.
Not sure about that Gov- I never expected him to look this good. He's certainly made huge strides and while its easy competition the past few weeks he's never looked like this.
Ohio State has been playing football since 1890. During those 127 years they have had occasion to play many teams without pulses, as you say. Not one quarterback in the history of Ohio State football has done what JT Barrett has been doing. Not. One.Only thing that has changed is the emotions from OKL have lessened. We all expected JT and the offense as a whole to tear up 5 overmatched opponents. The questions many have about JT come from his performances in our last 5 games against teams with a pulse.

I just hope PSU still counts as a "big game" after Barrett trashes them. JT has struggled in the past but he's also excelled. Being skeptical is fine, but for some reason a huge percentage of OSU fans have adopted far more skepticism and harshness towards his play than most rival fans. The stats are a direct result of Meyer's system...not exactly the first of Meyer's QBs to fill the stat sheet.
And I'd challenge the view that he's played that much better the last five weeks. The weakness of our opponents completely hides many issues, the biggest one being his lateness on throws and unwillingness to throw it unless a guy is wide open.
I know I come off as a hater on the kid, but I assure you that no one is rooting for him more than me. I hope I'm wrong in my judgments.
Forget skill positions. The perimeter blocking in 2015 & 16 was not close to 2014 since those guys left. Some of that is Devin taking the top off. Some of that is Evan Spencer stealing everyone's lunch money (and Michael and Jalin not being slouches).I think that is a myopic view. Your points are well taken, and JTB may not have changed much... but the parts of the machine that he needs to execute have, in my opinion, grown significantly. I've always been of the opinion that OU was a function of not having enough cycles across the system to operate at a high level. I think they have that now.
We'll see, and I'm sure you agree, I hope you're proven dead wrong.
