QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

Give that man a silver football... he's the B1G Player of the Year

Chicago Tribune

Asked how he wants Buckeyes fans to remember him, Haskins replied: “I’m not done yet. But I want to be (viewed) as one of the best to ever do it at this university.”

Haskins already has joined elite company as the winner of the 2018 Chicago Tribune Silver Football, first awarded to Illinois’ Red Grange in 1924.

He is the 18th Ohio State player to earn the award, which goes to the Big Ten’s best player as voted by conference head coaches.

The last four Buckeyes to win it were also elite offensive talents: Troy Smith, Braxton Miller (twice), Ezekiel Elliott and J.T. Barrett.

From the Chicago Tribune article:
For all of Haskins’ brilliance, he received only five of 13 possible first-place votes. (Coaches cannot vote for their own players.)

Four players received two first-place votes: Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, Purdue receiver Rondale Moore, Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley and Wisconsin tailback Jonathan Taylor. Michigan defensive tackle Rashan Gary also received a first-place nod.

Dwayne Haskins joined elite company on Friday as he was awarded the Chicago Tribune Silver Football, given annually to the Big Ten's top player as voted on by the conference's coaches.

Haskins becomes Ohio State's 18th Silver Football winner. The last four Buckeyes to win it were Troy Smith, Braxton Miller (twice), Ezekiel Elliott and J.T. Barrett.

This award comes after Haskins put up record breaking numbers through the air, throwing for 42 touchdown passes and 4,081 yards, both of which are single-season Big Ten records with at least two games games remaining.

Despite his dominance, Haskins received only five of 13 possible first-place votes as Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, Purdue receiver Rondale Moore, Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley and Wisconsin tailback Jonathan Taylor each received two first-place votes and Michigan defensive tackle Rashan Gary picked up one.

From the Chicago Tribune article:

Let that sink in for a minute. Devin Bush received a first place vote and so did Rashan Gary...

Again let that sink in for another minute.

Did either of them set a single school or conference record?

How many times did those two twat waffles even get B1G player of the week?

How many schools are sick and tired of the best players on the best team in the conference winning awards?

All of them.

How many of these B1G coaches and media members can suck a fat one?

Whiny ass hypocritical fuckwads.

I mean, it isn’t a stretch to say he’s already one of the best to ever do it at Ohio State. That’s without even needing to return for another year. So, whatever he decides, he’s going out as a phenomenon. Pretty damn impressive.

Would love to have him back, but completely understand if he’s done after this year. Depends on what his ultimate goal is during his time and whether or not he obtains it this season.
