QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

He was not rattled at all The entire game he was taking on blitzes right up the gut are interior line was getting put on skates he had barely a second to make his reads and deliver but even in that set up he had 270 and 3 tds and I’m not counting that interception that was right in the hands of berry .... with Barrett we lose that game the lack of passing would have been are downfall .... we blamed Haskins for the failed 4 and 1 attempt no quarterback or running back would have made that play ... because once again up the middle is getting destroyed and we let a defensive end fly right down the line untouched

When he was under pressure there were a number of passes where he and WR were on different pages of the playbook. Hard to say which player made the wrong call, but the fact it was a couple different receivers and the experience gap leads me to believe some of those were on him. You also can't 'not count' the interception yet still list the 270 yards and 3 tds in the same sentence. A lot of that came from yards after catch on screens and dump offs.

Not bagging on Haskins at all, I think he played a heck of a game. I think the offensive struggles were a complete team effort and don't think Dwayne should be absolved from blame.

Some of you guys must not have watched the same game as me. I love me some Haskins.. but he was shook. He has made unbelievably accurate spot and touch throws all year, last night he was missing and missing badly. I am not saying he is bad or wrong or wont recover and be the best tOSU has ever seen.. but last night he was shook.

The play that really told me he was shook was the deep in by Saunders that he stepped into and it bounced. He hasn't had a single other pass like that all season. He gets super props though keeping his cool down at the 4 yard line and directing that winning drive. Excellent team play. Well disguised and executed.

Instead of setting up the run with the passing game I think the flat/screen game should be our set up play. When they widen, we drill them running or go deep. Got to get more guys out of the box.

Yea, the question to me is whether the pressure or the drops shook him... or both.
He was playing really well with what he had until the drops and pressure just reached a spilling point and you could see the ghost leave. Urban Meyer looked at his wits end too. I saw some Surrender Cobra on the sidelines.

In the 2nd half, the OLine manned up and WRs started catching again... but he never got back into it. Wildly overthrowing balls, bouncing them off the turf, behind receivers, missing reads on open guys ... thankfully some of the WRs (esp Hill and Victor) made it work.
He did remain on point with the screens and that was enough to finish strong. But seems like the situation got to him in the 1st half.

I just saw that there wAsnt a quarterback in college football that could have played very well with how our interior online played penn state blitzed all night because they knew are line couldn’t handle it and they saw both our guards as the weak links and kept attacking them ... Haskins couldn’t plant his feet long enough before getting hit the throws looked like normal “I gotta get the ball out before I get hit again throws” watch the game and you will see any throw that was inaccurate came soon as he touches the ball the pocket collapsed immediately ....

With JT we also probably run for 250-300 yards. I too think DH was rattled because his passes across the middle were really off but yes he wasnt helped by his WRs and definately his OL.

I don’t understand why Barrett has a reputation for not making mistakes. He threw interceptions on his own 20 against Oklahoma and Iowa last year that were the nail in the coffin in both games.

Jt’s Mistakes occurred in bunches

In between he had long periods of solid performance and unparalleled leadership

Great Buckeye and I’ll buy him a drink (and confiscate his car keys) if I ever meet him

He would have had a qb rating 20-50 points lower than Dwayne’s last night, and I base that on his ratings against the best defenses he faced. There were two notable exceptions: Sparty 14 and Pedo 17.

Watched that play several times. I strongly believe a T QB makes it because the line surge was there. Because he began five yards back PSU had time to shoot the gaps. This has happened against Michigan, USC, ND, WISCONSIN, and MSU. Its a real drawback to the spread.
