QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

I hate to go “back in the day” here, but it used to be that franchises planned 4-6 years in advance to an extent...now, coaches get fired after 1-2 seasons, rosters get emptied, and new guys get brought in. That makes it a hell of a lot harder on a guy like Dwayne to find a situation where a team has the foresight to pay him and stash him for 2-3 seasons...it just doesn’t happen anymore.

It's all about having an established QB in place.

Pittsburgh, Green Bay, New Orleans (but they have their QB of the future I think), maybe Tampa, Atlanta maybe...but after that they are either in complete disarray or just stripping it down to the bottom.

Head to the CFL, do better, get better. Come back in 3 years.

Yeah....Jameis Winston had an awful reputation, and wisely took a 1 year deal to sit the bench and learn behind Drew Brees and Shaun Payton. Honestly, this is the exact route Haskins should go. Assuming Winston leaves NO, I think he should lobby Payton (who has close ties to OSU) to sign him a 1 year deal where he just sits and absorbs what it is to be an NFL QB (assuming Brees plays another season).

If not NO behind Brees, I'd target Tampa, Seattle, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, etc.......go somewhere and just learn. He should NOT be looking for a job where he thinks he can compete for starter. Take a step back and just absorb.

Just sayin': I don't think the odds are very good. It appears that earlier this year the Lions have decided on Chase Daniel as their primary backup to the QB1 position in Detroit:

Former Chicago Bears quarterback Chase Daniel has reached an agreement with the Detroit Lions on a three-year, $13.05 million deal that includes a voidable clause, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Lions knew they needed to address their backup quarterback situation after losing starter Matthew Stafford to a broken back for the final eight games of the season. Lions general manager Bob Quinn said after the season that potentially paying more for a backup quarterback this year was something the club would consider.

It's not likely that they would add Haskins' $2M per year contract for a 2nd backup QB.

Since he cleared waivers, any team can sign him for anything they can get him to agree to - including the league minimum with $0 guaranteed. WFT is on the hook for the rookie deal guarantees (if they can't manage to void any of them). Backup QBs get released all the time w/ years left on their deals, since most NFL contracts are really 1 year deals with a series of team options, with the only real considerations being guarantees and dead cap hits. not saying Daniel should be released, but for example look at how much NO is paying 3 QBs this year (including one many thought was just a gadget guy before he showed he's the legit QB2 and possible heir apparent to Brees). Haskins isn't going to get any kind of deal that will any way affect the cap/budget of his next team. It's all about fit and roster spots.

He'll probably end up with the Steelers and make Browns fans life horrible for years. Wouldn't be a bad move especially if Ben is going to try to get it another year. He has to be better than Rudolph if they can get him to commit to football. It isn't like the Shittsburgh strippers are anything to write home about. He needs to go to one of the teams with an established starter that only has a year or two left so he can learn. I'd say the Browns could give him a shot, but they already have backup locked down and I don't see them holding onto 3 QB's. Haskins would be a fallback option in a couple years if Baker demands a Mahomes sized extension. Haskins will only get one more shot if he doesn't change his ways so he better make it count and be on his best behavior.

Chase Daniel has made a whole lot of money for doing a whole lot of nothing in his career

Booger McFarland is out there claiming race has something to do with Haskins' failure in Washington, comparing him to Jamarcus Russell. As if Johnny Football didn't do everything Haskins has done and more?

Actually Booger's rant could be posed precisely to Johnny Football as well... Exact same issue.

When your career future depends on playing in an area with shitty strip clubs, it might be time to re-evaluate your priorities.
