QB Craig Krenzel (B1G Champion, National Champion)

2 Minute Drill Run to Perfection Against Penn State
Posted by Craig Krenzel on 10/30/2013

The Buckeye offense poured it on heavy against the Nittany Lions in the Shoe Saturday evening en route to 63 points and complete domination. It was a nearly flawless performance against an overmatched Penn State team clearly showing the battle scars of scholarships lost. Braxton Miller and company racked up 686 yards of total offense, but it was the two-minute drill drive at the end of the second quarter that truly put the finishing touch on a dominant first half.

The two-minute offense is used all the time in situations where the offense needs to move the ball quickly and preserve as much time as possible. With 55 seconds left in the second quarter Saturday night, the Buckeyes had to go 56 yards to get in field goal range or 86 yards for a touchdown. In many offenses, this seems like a daunting task. With today’s high flying, up-tempo offenses, it is a bit less intimidating even though it is still quite a challenge. The Buckeyes’ final touchdown drive of the first half was executed to near perfection.
