Robert Carl "Bobby" Hoying (born September 20, 1972 in St. Henry, Ohio) is a former college and professional American football quarterback

College career
Hoying played college football at the Ohio State University Buckeyes. In 1993, as a sophomore, he was named the Ohio State starting quarterback, but shared snaps with Bret Powers, a transfer from Arizona State. By 1994, Hoying acquired firm hold on the starting spot.

In his career at Ohio State, Hoying completed 498 passes and 57 touchdown passes, both school records. He is second only to Art Schlichter on the Ohio State career passing yardage list. He was an outstanding college student and was selected as an All Big 10 Scholar Athlete. In 1995, he ranked tenth in the vote for the Heisman Trophy. His team mate, Eddie George, won that year.

Hoying was selected to the Ohio State Football All-Century Team in 2000.

Hoying* Eagles career: A third-round draft pick in 1996, Hoying got his shot a year later when he replaced Ty Detmer midway through a loss to the 49ers. He directed the Eagles to consecutive home wins over the Steelers and Bengals, the latter a 44-42 classic in which he threw four TD passes. Not one for hyperbole, of course, the Daily News topped Hoying stories the following week with headlines such as "Hoy to the World" and "A Star is Born." The balloon burst soon afterward. "I remember the good times and the bad times," he says. "For the last half of my second year there, it doesn't get any crazier for a quarterback. . . . We ended up getting beaten by the Giants the last home game of that year and ultimately didn't make [the playoffs], but it was crazy. And that following offseason was nuts. Everybody wanted you to do appearances. Then, fast forward to next season, we finished 3-13 and you're traded, and then here comes Donovan [McNabb]."

* Where he is now: Married, with a son and a daughter and expecting a third child in February. Hoying, who will be 35 on Sept. 20, and his family live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, where he's a partner with the largest real estate company in central Ohio. You can read more on the firm at crawfordhoying.com. "When I was still playing, back in '98, I met my partner back here on the golf course and we did our first real estate deal together. That's kinda how I got into it." Along with his father and brother, another member of that team is former Ohio State quarterback Craig Krenzel.

Whatever happened to Bobby Hoying? It's like every Buckeye fan forgets about this guy. I've never seen his name mentioned on BP. This guy was fuckin awesome in the 90's. Just thought I'd get this very underappreciated Buckeye back to the top of the list.

Uhhh...check the post above yours?

I didn't mean what literally happened to him. I meant why do Buckeye fans forget about this great player
Forget? Not quite, but take a look and see if we talk about any Buckeyes that played 10 years ago unless they're currently playing, or are on television. I don't typically go into reminisce mode unless there's some sort of context to it. Although I will occasionally go to BN and ask what the Big Kat is up to, and see if anyone remebers that hit he put on Corby Jones. :tongue2:

You've now spent 4 different posts complaining about nobody talking about hoying, while really not saying anything about him yourself, other than one quip about how he was awesome in the 90s.

Is there much more than that we can go into? It's not that he's forgotten, there's just not much to talk about... as you evidenced with your own post.

Look mercer county. We get it. Hoying = home town hero, but go ahead and look at the content in Jackson's thread. Is any of it positive? Hoying was a good QB that won a lot of games, but just like any other player that wasn't legendary and is no longer in the spotlight, they will fade from conversation.
