Great 2 B A Buckeyes !!!
Purdues' Kyle Orton sure can read defenses and he gets great pass blocking for his O-line. He makes it look easy. Its going to be one heck of a battle come November 13th. It seems we may (prays to the OSU gods) be able to run on their defense. I hope we have success passing too. Someone please call Justin Zwick and tell him to watch Kyle please :biggrin2:
If we can slow down Kyle Orton we'll have a good game.

The Purdue pass protection has not been seriously tested yet...they haven't been stormed yet
Absolutely correct. Ball st, Syracuse, and Illinois do not make a big ten champ. Indiana may be able to be all of these teams. Does that make them legit big ten contenders? Purdue's Defense looks very shaky, if and when they play a good defensive team (scUM, Iowa, OSU, Wisky) they will lose.

Yes I think they are VERY beatable based on how they have looked so far, I mean think about it they lost 7 players on defense to the NFL. And Yes it will be interesting to see how he does against a strong defense, but it does seem that orton could be something special

Watching that game I couldn't help but flash back to our loss to Drew Brees (2000 I believe). This could shape up to be that kind of game - but with a different outcome of course.

as i said in my preseason prediction thread.....the purdue defense is going to jump up and bite them big time....

illinois....the worst offensive team in the big ten, put up 30 on them.....

Agree with Di, the D has been the main threat from Purdue the past 2 years. 7 guys from that core are in the NFL now and Purdue just isn't going to replace that kind of talent overnight. Lots of missed tackles and shoddy D today.

Offenseively they are the same as always, a short-timming passing game. They don't have deep threats at WR and consequently struggle when they play a team like OSU or scUM that has the athletes to play man up.

Just keep it all in fron of you and make them execute 80 yd drives. What have they scored overall last 2 years 19 points? It's not the O its the D and thats now a legit weakness.

In 2002 they averaged 29.7 ppg prior to our 10-6 win at Purdue and in 2003 averaged 28.5 ppg before our 16-13 win at The Shoe. They have one TD against us in two games despite averaging nearly 30 ppg both years. I'm not overly concerned.

Good points MililaniBuckeye about them these past few years. I definitely think our offense can do well against their defense. They do have alot more tests before they get to OSU but nobody can deny that Orton is playing better than previous years. I still think we'll do well. Just making an observation on his game.

And no more 50+ point games now that they're in the Big Ten schedule. Even a crappy B-10 team is more of a test than what they've faced so far. Obviously, we can't take them lightly; and we'll need to put up some points, but our D will clamp down on them.

Tiller wants to beat us bad. Worse than scUM or anyone else. We will get PU's best shot. I think it will come down to if they can run the ball at all. That is the reason we always seem to beat them. They can't run the ball against us which turns them into a straight passing team and a one dimentional team is easy to beat. Now that we have a new D-Line that is what concerns me. Otherwise we will have to open it up to try to beat them, and then I worry about J. Zwick trying to do too much.

If J. Zwick matures as a QB, which by that point he should have, and we can stuff the run with our front 7 consistantly. We will beat Purdue no matter where the game is played.

I wouldn't be surprised if Game Day went to that game, because they have spoken on their radio show about how they would like to go there.
