The Buckeyes continue their awful start dropping 2 of 3 to Purdue at Bill Davis Stadium
Buckeyes win Game 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team claimed its first win in conference play with a 13-2 victory over Purdue on a cold, windy and rainy Friday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Scarlet and Gray improve to 11-14 overall and 1-3 in Big Ten play, while the Boilermakers fall to 13-12 overall and 1-3 in conference action. Yianni Pavlopoulos tossed five scoreless innings to claim his second win of the season.
"For him to just be process-driven and execute the fastball in the bottom of the strike zone was really good and what we needed," head coach Greg Beals said. "Just putting up the zeroes. We score, we put up a zero. We score, put up a zero. Score, put up a zero. And that just is deflating to a team when you don't let them back in. They score and we pop three back in. It's just like we were on. Tonight was a night and the season hasn't been this way very often, but tonight was a night it was all Buckeyes. The guys really embraced the weather conditions and that's what I told them pregame."
