Why is that funny?
Fielding H. Yost was the Athletic Director at Michigan at the time of Yost's construction. He was already a legend in Ann Arbor but as an AD he did more for the school then any other AD in history. During his time Yost was the guy who built Michigan Stadium, the U-M Golf course, the first Rec/IM in the entire nation, and the Fielding H. Yost Field House.
The reason that our capacity got smaller is because during the latest renovation they added "luxury" suites inside the arena. The second deck over the student section used to be bleachers like the rest of the arena but now it is sold for much higher price and includes a catoring service that provides free food and drinks at each game with nicer seats that take up more room.
I'm guessing that you'll move up to #7 or #8 in this weekends rankings after your weekend sweep of LSSU. This weekend will be the most critical in determining the regular season championship.
You guys have a big series with BGSU this weekend. They are coming to Columbus as #5 in the CCHA but they've collected points in 3 of their last 4 games so they are hot right now like you guys. We have to head to Nebraska-Omaha for two road games this weekend and they are fourth in the CCHA right now. If Michigan escapes this weekend and still has a grasp onto the point lead then Michigan is much more likely to hold on IMO.
You still have two games in East Lansing, and even though MSU is having a rough year this year, they're 5-3-3 against Top 10 teams so I'm sure they'll play you guys tough. I have a good breakdown of the standings on GBW with the remaining CCHA schedule if you want to check it out.
We end with 2 @ Nebraska-Omaha (4th place), home-and-home with ND (last place), and home-and-home with BGSU (5th place). You guys have two home games Vs. BGSU (5th place), 2 @ MSU (6th place), and a home-and-home with Miami, Oh. (6th place).
What really stings is we should have won both games against MSU. On Friday night in Ann Arbor it was 2-0 Michigan with under 4 minutes remaining and MSU scored the game tying goal with 1.2 seconds left on the clock.
On Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena we had a 1-0 lead with under 4 minutes to go again when MSU tied it up.
Good luck the rest of the way and I'm sure we'll be bumping into you at the Joe.
Edit: On the Wolverine Rivals board there is a Michigan State fan that provides a very accurate bracketology for college hockey and he just posted his information today for through this weekend. Right now you are #14 in the pairwise rankings and need a strong finish to ensure you make the tournament in case you don't win the CCHA.
