Our church has no bells.
My boss has "suggested" that I be admitted to the bar for the US Eastern District of Michigan. I have about seven cases in Michigan right now and being admitted would save us a ton on fees paid to local counsel. So, the dilemma is obvious: do I quit my job or have it be a matter of public record forever that I'm licensed to practice law in (part of) Michigan? Thoughts?

Umm.. if I understand it correctly (which I'm sure I don't), you pay fees to people in Michigan to do nothing but make sure you're doing that work properly. You may be making money FROM Michigan, but you're paying some back. If you're licensed to practice in Michigan, you'll only be taking money FROM Michigan.

Would it allow you to do something useful in TSUN?

Like filing a class action suit demanding that the seats in the Toilet Bowl be widened in order to prevent chronic back pain?

But nothing can be done about the bad taste most of them have in their mouths after suffering another defeat at the hands of the Buckeyes. :biggrin:

So, you are just some money hungry whore who doesn't care where his paycheck comes from! Any self-respecting Buckeye that works in that God-forsaken state up north should be ashamed of him/herself. I have already sent off an email to The Ohio State University asking them to revoke your degree(s).

My first post may not have been absolutely clear. The majority of my practice is defending one very large client all over the country. It gets sued everywhere, including TSUN. Out of a caseload of around 30, I currently have seven cases there. Generally, you pay local lawyers to sign off on things for you and/or you get admitted on a case by case basis. Both cost money. If I got admitted to the ED MI, I'd be taking money away from MI lawyers (one of whom is an ND grad), but I'd have to spend more time there. Tough call.

I don't know what you should do about the Michigan thing, but reading your job description gives me an idea that could work out well for both of us. How about I sue the shit out of your big shit company (I don't know who they are, or what they do but I know they are guilty as hell and should pay) You help me through the process and let them know they have no chance to win, and negotiate a huge settlement. When you get shitcanned I will split the money with you.

Not knowing what your employer does let me just say, that I would be willing to cut off a digit or two from my wife if it will help the case.

edit: I guess I could also do something to her sexual organs since she does not seem to use them anymore. :wink2:
