Printing posters

A relative of mine would like to have a poster made of a photo I took. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I should have it printed? I've used Shutterfly and Mpix.com in the past for prints and enlargements but not poster sizes.

We've had 16x20 stuff done at Kinkos before, I haven't looked at any larger, maybe you should punch Josh, or you could ask him, but thorough interrogation is the way to go.

pretty sure Costco will go up to 20 x 30 for a poster for 10 bucks or less , they will also put it on canvas for a lot more money if that's what you want.

kinkos will do it too.

Probably Walmart, but I have never checked

Costco does an awful job with 8x10 prints. Maybe the posters are better, but that would be a big deterrent for me.

Check slickdeals' hot deals forum, search for poster prints by title. Places like snapfish and shutterfly have frequent sales but for random things.

Fotki does an outstanding job with prints, and their enlargements are very affordable. You may need a subscription. I have one and could print it for you if you'd like.

couple of my friends have used mpix and liked it. I got a couple 20x30 done by apple through iphoto, but I think they use Kodak's online service.

How big is your original file? You might want to consider that and determine how far you can stretch the limited resolution I assume your photo possesses.

The file size is 3.950 MB (2592 x 3872). According to mpix, the maximum size I can create is a 24 x 36. That would cost me $44.99. A 20 x 30 would cost me 24.99. Seems like a huge difference in price.

That resolution should be doable... even if it has to be digitally enlarged. Glad we're not dealing with a 5/6 megapixel shot.

I had a few 24X36 posters done at this place and they came out amazing... one is in my living room and the others went to clients (family photos). They have a one time special for new customers that will give you a 24X36 for $9.99, they are normally $19.99.....

Shipping wasn't bad.... UPS Ground for about $7 or $8.

I use El Co Color Labs for 20x30's. As long as you order two they're $9.99. Adorama runs specials as mentioned above and you can get 16x20's for $4.95. You can even buy them in bundles to save for future use whenever you want.
