That's a pain in the buns
Would anyone happen to have an extra power cord that is compatible with an IBM/Lenovo R60 laptop?? Mine decided to stop working, and I have papers/lab reports due Friday/early next week...if you do have an extra one that you aren't using or something like that let me know and would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Mac

I can't help you, but I would check your model number on the cord itself, then use it to find a generic on eBay. That's what I've done in the past because if you go through IBM they'll probably try to rape you. Don't know how soon you'd be able to get it though.

If you have papers due soon, you might as well go to Radio Shack and buy a universal cord package, they're like 80-90 dollars, but you can always use them as they come with different adapters.

Actually, you can get a replacement on Amazon for just over $30 with one day shipping.

Thanks for the fast responses...so I'm looking on ebay and I see some for like $10. It says its compatible with my IBM R60, but then it lists Part Number...How do I know what my power cords part number is?? The only numbers I see on my cord are 42T5093. I'm not sure if thats the part number or not, and if so all the auctions on ebay that I've seen don't list that part number...

You're not buying a real IBM cable, those are absurdly expensive. You're buying a knockoff, which is probably why the part no is different.

If the cord isn't compatible, you should be able to return it for a refund.

I've bought a dozen off brand chargers for phones, laptops and other electronics on eBay. They've all worked just fine.
The only thing I shy away from are rubber cases for phones, they tend to be garbage.

My lenovo/IBM z60m replacement charger works great. Compard to the original, the cord isn't quite as long and the plug isn't quite as snug in the transistor (big black box) but it works just fine.

In general, monoprice.com and/or meritline.com are the place to shop for cheap cords, but I've only shopped for video, audio, computer, networking cables there (never buy from best buy, who marks up cables about 10-100x their original cost. The 3 hdmi cables for 5-10 bucks work just as well as those outrageous 99 dollar monster cables)

I'm not sure if they have good deals on cables like these though.

Wow....I'm typing on a Lenovo R60 right now, and I have an extra power cord. The problem is, I need it for a couple more weeks. How soon do you need it?

Thanks, but I already have a new on in the mail. I bought one off ebay, shipped for $10. For now I'm just using my girlfriends laptop. Thanks for the help everyone.

Glad you have found a solution to your problem. I must say, however, that you're constitution toward sarcasm is weak.
