Possible tOSU vs. ND in Fiesta Bowl.

w/Derrick Williams out, PSU will lose again. Wisky though also needs a loss, but I am sure if we are co-champs, they would choose us.

i'm not sure exactly how it works, but i think the big 10 tiebreakers for BCS selection would screw osu over if we ended up tied with wiscy.

if conference record is equal i think the next category is overall winning %, which screws osu over.

so osu could be in the bcs top 12 and not get the auto bid. ND will automatically get one because of their pussy tie-in rule. all it then takes is a team like ucla to run the table save for the finale with usc, and osu is left out of the bcs mix.

1) The Conference champion shall be the representative team. The championship shall be determined on the percentage basis of Conference games (tie game counts 1/2 win and 1/2 loss).

2) An ineligible team shall not be considered in the standings for determination of the Conference representative.

3) If there is a tie for the championship, the winner of the game between these two teams shall represent the Conference.

4) If there is still a tie, or if the tied teams did not play each other, the representative shall be determined on the percentage basis of all games played in the traditional 11-game schedule, or in certain years (2002 and 2003) 12-game schedule.

5) If there is still a tie, the most recent team earning BCS automatic selection shall be eliminated.

...

Penn State and Wisconsin have to lose another Big-10 game.

Or for Georgia, Virginia Tech or Texas to run the table and lose their conference championship game. We need to win the Big 10.

It would suck if the 12th game in Hawaii would have allowed a 10-2 Wiscy team to get the Rose Bowl bid over a 9-2 team (or 11-1 vs. 10-1). Since we have a non-conference loss and they don't, that shouldn't come into play this year. Well, if they lost at Hawaii, it could come into play, but they would have had the better overall record before the 'extra' game in Hawaii was played.

does anyone remember 2003? We lost two conference games, and we were not the big ten champs. Where did we go? The fiesta bowl. I think a 9-2 record with only 1 conference loss and a good ranking should make it very possible to get an at large bid.

aside from traveling to happy valley, its not likely. they dont play msu this year. osu needs psu to beat wiscy, and msu to take care of psu.
travelling to happy valley will take care of it. Wiscy gave up how many points to Bowling Green? They are fucking horrible. They'll lose 2 more. PSU will lose to MSU. They're about to go into "Penn State freefall". MSU has already had it's "MSU mid-season meltdown" and should be rolling again this week.

Impossible this year thanks to Notre Dame. Nobody left on ND's schedule will beat them, and the SEC title game runner-up will get the other spot.

That's a little to cut and dried for my taste. What about the ACC title game runner up, if it's Virginia Tech? What about Texas possibly losing in the B12 champ game? What about USC losing to undefeated UCLA the last game of the year. There are lots of teams who would get the last spot over us, but I think we'll win the conference and make it a moot point.

I think Buckeyepride nailed it... Beat Indiana. OSU can only control what they do. A lot of these scenerios are nice to haves, but anyone is capable of beating anyone in the Big Ten. I think if we win out we will be in a BCS Bowl.

My conspiracy theory: If OSU wins out the BCS and college football will want OSU in a BCS game. They want schools to schedule marquee matchups like OSU and Texas and teams will avoid it if they think it might ruin their changes at a BCS bowl game if they lose early.
