Even though this is a stupid topic which has certainly been rehashed here and (especially) elsewhere a thousand times, I'll give you an honest answer. For every hot shot QB or WR who wants to play in a "wide open" offense, there is a blue chip RB or OL who wants to play "smash mouth" football. You win some, you lose some, that's just the way it goes.I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the Buckeyes' offensive woes may have a greater effect on the future of the team. This could (and is already) having an affect on recruiting. Big name offensive recruits are going to shun the Buckeyes if they can get better stats someplace else. We've seen it before (Sanchez, Jarett). Now I'm sure some of you hard-core Buckeye Fans out there will say, "Fine! I dont want them because they didnt want to be Buckeyes anyway!" but this is crazy. 99% of recruits are looking for "Best Fit" situations and soon, we're going to be a "Bad Fit" for star athletes.
What happens when our talent level drops to where we can't even come near the "24 point per game" goal? Does that force the Buckeyes back to an option-oriented offense?
I guess I just see this eventually spiralling out of control until the Buckeyes are no longer competitive. Playing "not to lose" is going to scare a lot of talent away from Ohio State.
Yes and that pittman sure is a washupThe Good News: Ohio State is in position to land the number one tailback in the nation for 2005 in Wells. :stupid: Thanks for the update. We already landed wells in 2005's recruiting class.
The Bad News: This will still give Ohio State only two bona fide studs at tailback.(In case you didn't know, CWells is a guaranteed success and MWells is a complete waste of a scholarship) Meanwhile, former residents of Ohio are tearing up teams across the college football world. Gary Russell ripped up Michigan and the Big Ten when he gets a chance to tote the rock at Minnesota. DeShawn Wynn is scoring touchdowns at Florida. Javon Ringer is showing his wares as a Michigan State Spartan. The aforementioned Sutton is wowing the entire college football world from Evanston.
The Bad News:
What a bitter, bitter man to keep tabs on which states he can't travel to for fear that someone might remember a bowl game that took place before I was born and give him a hard time about it.Ohio State fans now have yet another Southern state in which they cannot travel or live without hearing an earful from the natives. Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi (thanks to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis), Florida (Florida State and bitter Miami fans), and South Carolina were already on the list. With the loss to Texas, Buckeye alums can now chalk up another geographic region of misery.
The Good News: Mercifully, I have run out of things to say…
It's almost noon, has everyone dinged tedginn05 today?
I have to spread more rep first...i'm up for trades![]()
