You need to screenshot when it happens, so that Clairity can see what add was coming up on bp. When one of the adds that's on a page comes, it can trigger a pop up, such as the banner at the top, or the new ad placements, so screenshot or let him know which ads were coming up when you got the pop up, it makes it much easier to resolve.

My first reaction, even hearing that it only seems to happen on BP, is that it smacks of spyware.

Absolutely grab a screenie next time it happens though, and I hope if anyone else is seeing any pop-up or pop-under, that they'll do the same. We maintain a zero tolerance policy when it comes to these things, and all we need is the proper information to have them removed when they do.

I found out that it is more than on BP. I have a firewall, Nod32 , a commercial antivirus and adaware running and the ads still pop up.

You might want to grab the most recent version of Hijackme, and run a scan with that. There used to be a number of forums where you could post the output from that program, and friendly/helpful ubergeeks would analyze it to let you know if something had snuck its way into your system, but I don't know where those are anymore. Someone around here might though.

I think you mean "HiJackThis" it's available from Trend Micro as a free tool. Be careful though, if you don't know what you are doing you can jack up your system, it's available at TrendSecure | TrendMicro? HijackThis? Overview

You're right, "This" is what I meant. It's been a while.

Using HJT to run a scan and report should be 100% safe, you're right to suggest people stay away from the 'fix' or 'change' button (whatever it is) though, unless they really know what they're doing.

What pop-up?

Again, there shouldn't be any here on BP. Not-a-one. So if you do see one, please grab a screenshot of the pop-up (you can use the Snipping Tool built into Vista, for example) and copy its URL. With that information, they can track it down and squash it.

Basically what happens is that some companies sneak pop-up code in with normal banners. It's against the rules, against our settings and agreement, and just generally shitty amoral behavior. But what else is new? By reporting, we clean these out, and hopefully block similar behavior in the future. In some cases, we've just stopped allowing certain networks that kept on doing (or allowing) this sort of thing.

So English, Spanish, or anything else -- pop-up, pop-under, forced audio, etc. Please report it and we'll make sure it's gone.
