i think you have a better chance of being struck by lightning twice, winning the lotto and being eaten alive by a shark in the same day...
That actually happened to me once. Luckily the second lightning strike happened while I was inside the shark. Saved my life.

The bottom line for most of us that have never worked on anything "cutting-edge" is that having a system that can crown two national champions is like having whoever wins the NFC and the AFC are the champions or whoever wins the AL and the NL are the champions. There is no finality to it and there should be.

Really??? Holy shit! Did you make it out of the shark with your lotto ticket?

Per Zurp's post, I don't really think preseason rankings have that much to do with it, but I do agree that the timing of the loss is critical. Once the Bucks reach the second half of the Big 10 season, there just isn't enough time to make up a loss......Look a '98 and MSU. Why in the FUCK did that Arkansas QB put the ball down and fall to the side??? If Tennessee would have lost that game, we'd be right there!!!

you can't have finality without a playoff and a playoff will never happen. so... we got what we got. bowl games are here to stay and there is no way a season as long as the nfl will stand at present. the bcs has yet to crown 2 nc's. now while there has been disputes over who was the nc according to fans and the media. every year of the bcs it has crowned a singular nc. the bcs pitted #1 vrs #2 and crowned the winner the nc... even if #3 goes undefeated, according to the bcs there is only 1 #1.

though i do agree with your statement on the lack of finality in certain situations. it sucks when you have 3 teams who all deserve a shot at the nc, but only 2 can play. i just don't see a strong enough sentement in those who make the decisions to go the route that would give that finality.

by the by, do you agree or disagree with the big 10 having a conference chapionship game?

Like I've said, I always liked the BCS. And like someone said (I forget who) I can come up with a "better" system. Will everyone like it? Of course not. Especially fans of the team that comes out #3. Most people won't like my system, just like I'll find problems with most other people's systems.

I think the BCS is good, because it HAS gotten 1 vs. 2 every year. It chooses its own 1 and 2, based on a set of parameters that it makes up before every season. There is one BCS champion, and, aside from 2003 USC fans and 2004 Auburn fans, a majority of college football fans only recognize the BCS champion as THE champion.

Very much disagree. I think much more bad than good can come of it.

I would love it, but only if it was Ohio State and scUM playing in it every year. (Which most of the time it would be.) But you just can not take a chance on ruining the best rivalry game being the last game of the season. So I would have to say I am more against it than for it.

i figured that would be your answer. i asked because i find it interesting that a lot of people here who scream about finality in the nc race can't stomach the idea in the big 10.

fyi, im against a big 10 championship game. understand im not a bcs fan boy. it just seems to be the only viable option at present.

I guess I walked right into your trap. I'm for the BCS, but against Big10 Championship game. I think the reason might be that Big10 championship game would decrease the importance of Ohio State-Michigan, and, to a lesser extent, other rivalries (MSU-PSU, Illinois-NW, etc.). (But who cares about those "rivalries?") A BCS championship does not hurt any rivalries. Also, the Big Ten has some tie-breakers in place for selecting the theoretical "true" Big 10 champ when two teams end with the same record. The NCAA does not have any tie-breakers when two or more teams end 12-0.

Ohhh, those other rivalries....actually, now that I think of it...WTF???
You like pointing out my stupidity, don't you? I'd think you'd be getting bored with it by now...

Anyway, here's how I understand it: teams like Northwester, as they AREN'T Ohio State, wish that they WERE Ohio State. Like Ohio State, they want to play Michigan at the end of each regular season. Unfortunately for them, Michigan is already playing Ohio State at the end of each regular season. Therefore, Northwestern needs another "Michigan." Northwestern's Michigan just happens to be Illinois.

The point of all this is.. well, I forget. HOWEVER, I think that a conference championship game will mean that the last game of the conference won't be any of the traditional last-week games. But a BCS championship game will not ruin any traditional last-week games.

Before you point out the stupidity of my thoughts, please wait in line and fill out Forms 501A, 510A, and 510G. These forms are so that we can enter your information into our data base so that we can better serve you in the future.

I am not surprised that someone picked up mo Hall, but Iam surprised it was the Chargers. The already have LT (5'10", 221 lbs.) nad drafted Sproles(5'6", 187 lbs.) out of Kansas State. It wouldn't seem that would have much of a need for another small(ish) speed back.
