Poll: Which Unheralded OSU player has the best game?

What "unknown" player breaks out?

I think this is gonna be David Patterson's 2nd coming out party (he had 3 sacks against MSU, if I remember correctly).

scUM is gonna be keying in on Kuds and Pitcock. I think Patterson's gonna create some noise on the line, inside (when Carp is taking his spot) and out. I'm not expecting 3 sacks from him in The Game, but I think he's gonna make some important stops on Hart and Grady.

Gonzo & Schlegs UNKNOWN? I think scUM knows their jersey numbers by heart by now... Hell, Gonzo lit them up first drive of the game last year!

oh jesus fucking christ. the question means which player who wasn't on the list yesterday could have a POTG type performance? is it that fucking hard?
apparently it is. We will have to include a set of rules in the BP FAQ for making polls. :roll1: (bkb this comment isn't for you)
It is rare for a Freshman WR to be "punking" anyone, but I suppose if he's gonna punk anyone it'll be a Corner with the same relative expierence.
he went deep twice vs. PSU, and Justin King was covering him for one of those plays. I think Jenkins has been playing enough that he doesn't enter this game as a frosh. It is his first experience in this rivalry, but he's much more experienced than a traditional frosh db.

The question is not "which OSU player needs to have the best game for OSU to win"... it is which unheralded one will have a great game?

I say Jenkins, b/c he prevents Manningham/Breaston from picking on a guy who really isn't ready to be starting. I think MJ is up to that task.

See Chad Henne and Mike Hart about whether or not exp. as a Freshman made a difference during THE GAME. The only Freshman that I cna think of that made a diff. in this matchup is Clarett. It's RARE, that's all I'm saying. Safe money says look to an upperclassman to be the difference.

"I say Jenkins, b/c he prevents Manningham/Breaston from picking on a guy who really isn't ready to be starting. " Who are you talking about? Who isn't ready to be starting, and why is MJ the guy who's being counted on to pick up the slack. Look, I love MJ's play as much as the next guy, I think he's a great DB and I'm really looking forward to his career here, but I don't see how OSU can expect to lay this kind of responsibility on a 1st year player in the biggest game of his life. I hope MJ gets a pick every time they throw his way. Considering the way Ashton limited Edwards last year, my guess is they're gonna pick on MJ. If this is your reasoning, then fine, MJ may have a great day, since he should get more opps to make plays.

I have no idea why you mentioned Justin King guarding MM. That was my point - that is, if a Frosh WR is gonna punk anyone it'll be another Freshman.

MM doesn't suck. OK? He'll beat some guys from time to time. So what? So will Johnny Schmuck from Baylor.

Jenkins is bigger than King, so he wins. I realized after I typed that out it sort of defeated my argument.

Last year there was some frosh named Ted Ginn who caught third down pass after third down pass, and then apparently had a PR. Just busting your chops (I don't expect that sort of thing from MM).

I think he will see a lot of passes in his direction, which is why I voted for him. I like Mitchell a lot, but I'm not sure whether he would matchup well with MM or not.

the idiocy I've experienced on the GBW board has clearly infected me.

Teddy returned a punt for six, yes.... he didn't score as a WR (although he did go 5rec for 87)

Just to clarify, I don't have any problem with you picking Jenkins, I was just trying to understand your reasoning, which as originally posted I thought was a misnomer (Michigan's WR's corps being deep, or at least deep enough it was worth noting.)

fair enough. he made some huge plays at WR tho to pick up key first downs.

Oh and you might remember some rs frosh named Holmes who walked into AA and did ok in 03

Im goin Frost. With them especially focusing on Smiths running abilities after being humiliated last year and already knowing about the dangerous Ginn (returned one against Mich last year) and Holmes has always been elusive - that leaves an unspoken TE open. Gonzo will play his heart out as always, but Frost has soft hands and can make some good catches wile having a large blocking body - similiar to Roy Hall.
