No, Josh, they've had more people catch balls.

I'll take OSU's top 3 every day of the week, and 100 times on Saturday.

UM's "Vaunted WR Corps" is an illusion.

I said deep WR corps, but you can change it to vaunted if you'd like. Their #2 & #3 WRs have caught one more TD than ours, so they obviously aren't slouches.

You're unimpressed with their WRs. I think Breaston is overrated, and Avant is highly underrated around these parts.

Jenkins will be a key player lining up against Manningham (assuming there aren't tons of switched assignments)... who is one heck of a WR talent. He is still young, but I'm very glad we have #2 to guard him.

Gee, how about "non big-name", or "non-marquee"? Smith, Holmes, Ginn, Pittman, Hawk, Carpenter, Kudla, Salley, Whitner, Youboty, etc., are "big-name" or "marquee" players. Should I bring in a hose to wash the piss off the walls? :roll1:
how about unheralded, and "unknown" in quotes to show that they aren't truly unknown. :roll2:

If you don't see the talent in their #3 WR named Manningham, then I guess we aren't gonna get very far.

I wasn't suggesting they were better than ours. I was merely responding to your rebuttal of their WRs based on statistics

Lets clear this up... 1) - I am saying the mass perception of Vaunted is not supported, not that you said it. 2) Suppose Erik Haw, Mo Wells, Lyons, Schnit, Johnson, and Robiskie all had 1 catch, would we be just as deep? How much have you seen OSU throwing during garbage time? 3) I don't think I said they're slouches, I said their unimpressive. As is typical of Michigan, or so it seems, they have 1 WR that does anything. It's been Edwards and now it's Avant, who in my view sucks compared to the hype he gets. He'd be #4 at best at OSU.

Manningham is a Freshman, and as I said earlier, I will reserve judgment on him. What I won't do is get all excited about him because he caught a pass against PSU to win the game and I sure as fuck won't fear a Freshman in THE GAME. Ask Chad Henne and Mike Hart how much they knew about the OSU Michigan game as Freshman.

While we're at it, where exactly is the underrating in these parts of Jason Avant?

I can post game by game if you'd like, good luck finding games where he seperated himself from average.

Gonzalez made his mark even before The Game last year, and the whole nation had a chance to see him open the scoring in that contest. Putting his name amongst the unheralded is eh, unwarranted, and under all circumstances I'd be unable to underwrite another vote for Gonzalez.

Gonzalez is heralded, just not as widely as Ginn or Holmes.

For that reason (amongst other) my vote goes to Frost. A good pass catching Tight End for the Buckeyes turns some of those 2nd and 8 or 9 plays into 3rd and very makeable.

my original point was that I was glad we had jenkins, as to prevent an inexperienced DB from getting punked by MM. You don't have to fear him to respect his abilities.

Hermann is afraid of Smith. Heacock respects Henne/Hart, but does not fear them in the same manner, IMO.

Malcolm Jenkins

I have a feeling Jenkins is going to have to have a big day. He has done a great job so far, he just has to keep it up. I am not talking about a pick 6 or anything huge. He just has to have a some big pass breakups and play stellar coverage.

I disagree: Gonzo was not even that well-known to many OSU fans before last year's scUM game, as a freshman with just 5 catches coming into the game. Of course we all remember (and probably always will) his 68-yard TD in The Game, but he only had one other catch that day, and with under 300 yards this year he is not a guy being 'heralded' outside the Buckeye Nation.

Respectfully BayBuck -- it is only within this thread that revision of the question has come about to mean unheralded outside the Buckeye nation. Furthermore, even if you wish to limit heralded to a nationwide audience the fact is that Gonzalez has been on that stage now twice last year (The Game and The Alamo Bowl) and several times this year in regional coverage. In many games the announcers have made mention of his speed, such a comparative being uttered just last week.

Now I just stick by heralded / unheralded on a very simple basis - Gonzo may not be as widely heralded a player as Ginn, Holmes, Smith or AJ Hawk, but he surely is NOT unheralded.

Actually, you said: jenkins. he will be needed to help slow down UM's deep WR corps.

And I went on to argue that Meatchicken's WR Corps isn't all that.

I don't follow what you mean when you say "[so] as to prevent an inexperienced DB from getting punked by MM"

Jenkins is, as a Freshman himself, "inexpierenced." Now, don't take that to mean I don't think he's up to the task, I do. I just didn't follow what you're getting at.

Manningham may well have a great game, safe money says otherwise. It is rare for a Freshman WR to be "punking" anyone, but I suppose if he's gonna punk anyone it'll be a Corner with the same relative expierence. So, if your point is you think MJ needs to step up and show he can shut down Manningham, that's fine with me. I took issue with the continued (Not by you specifically) misperception that Meatchicken's WR's are something to get all worked up about.

On Mili's thread, I voted Henne as the player I was most worried about for them, upon consideration, I should have said Hart. Not that I think he has a big game, but if he does that means Ohio State is in trouble. Typically the team that runs best is the team that wins. Brady threw for 375 in 1998. Michigan got crushed that day.

If any Michigan wideout is the difference, I'd be surprised.
